Note: these questions are to help me compare DB and DBP, so give answers for regular and pro.

1) What kind of interface does it have?

2) Can you give me an example of a commonly used line or two of code?

3) Can you make intros, cinematics and other such things?

4) If not, can you make it play .avi or .mov files?

5) Does it come with a model editor?

6) Can you make your games have minigames, PAR sequences and the like?

7) can you make it Online Enabled?

8) Can you make mirrors?

9) Comes with any models?

10) If 9, are they animated?

I sincerley hope I get better responses than in the FPSC forums, one minute they are , next minute they are .

I say exactly what's on my mind, like "Imagine your grandpa in a speedo" or "I eat Jell-O while waxing the table" and my personal favorite, "I drink bathtub water"

Thank you for your answers, I appriciate it!

What are the answers for DBC?
I ask because i'm under 17 and am currently strapped for cash, so if it's simpler, I may get it.

It's very easy to see the comparison of Classic vs Pro:
http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?f=compare

Classic won't be updated ever again... any bugs that are there are going to stay. Pro and Classic are pretty much the same in the ease of use since both use a lot of the same commands. It's just that Pro has a lot more commands and is faster.

plus you could download the demo versions and see what you think for yourself, you can try the demo for a while and if you don`t like it then nothing lost.

Thanks, I now know that DBP is worth the extra clams instead of buying DBC.

I might just buy them for the good forums!

ok, I've ordered DBP but i have a couple more questions:

11) Does i come with a starter manual like FPSC?

12) Can you choose between 2D and 3D games?

13) Can you make weather effects?

14) Can you mod other games or .exe's?

15) Can you make professional quality games?

16) Can you use newton physics?

17) if not 16, then maybe havok?

Dark basic classic

1) The standard interface is really annoying and too graphical. But if you buy it now it should come with dark edit which is a more windows based interface.

2) Print "Hello world" - just kidding
Make matrix 1,1000,1000,20,20

3) Not easily in dark basic itself but there are some usful software packages going around that will help you.

4) You can play all sorts of files here is a list.
http://darkbasic.thegamecreators.com/?f=features#formats

5) No it doesn't come with a model editor but again you can get hold of some cheap and even some free ones.

6) If you know how to program it I'm sure you can.

7) Yes but not like runescape or the like it will be more like an online ps2 game.

8) Yes (again if you can code it)

9) Yes quite a lot but not very high quallity

10) Some of them are.

Dark Basic Pro

1) The standard interface is windows based but several forum members have made their own and some of them are worth checking out.

2) It uses a lot of the classic commands but a really usful one for fps games is
return float=intersect object(object no,from x,fromy,from z,to x,to y, to z,)

3) If you have the right kind of software.

4) Here is a list of file formats
http://darkbasicpro.thegamecreators.com/?f=features#formats

5) No but you can buy one.

6) Again if you can code it you can do what you like.

7) Same ammount as classic can

8) If you can code it

9) Not as many as classic but they are higher quality.

10) Some of them are.

To really get an idea of what the two are like go to this link it sums them both up better than I have.

Hope this helps

Havok is like what Psi-Ops or Half-Life 2 use as a physics system.

But thank you Big Man, I now know what to expect.
