My friend's dad writes his own kids books for the school he works at, and he wants my friend to make him a webpage.
so, she's very good putting together visually apealing deals (like presentations) but she doesn't know anything about it.
so i was thinking that she could drag and drop everything, then help her out with the script and stuff when it was ready.

but I don't know what to use. I need something FREE and LICENCE FREE. Any ideas? it doesn't have to be the most amazing of applications, just so she can put a basic pretty picture together

MS paint if you're good at it.

I say exactly what's on my mind, like "Imagine your grandpa in a speedo" or "I eat Jell-O while waxing the table" and my personal favorite, "I drink bathtub water"

Joel - If you have a PHP host, look up FCKeditor on Sourceforge. It is open source and free. It's basically WORD on the web. You can type, bold, colour, font, make tables, add images, etc. etc. then convert it all to HTML code. I've used it several times for clients' intranets for when they want to create invoices or send HTML emails etc. on the web. Funny thing is the source code doesn't even look that bad.

You can cut and paste Word and other kinds of text into the editor as well. Let me know if you need help setting it up.

what's "WYSISYG"?

and isn't NVU only a text editor?

WYSIWYG

is fairly close, I guess thats what he meant....

What You See Is What You Get

believe it or not but there was a time when everything computer related was made in text editors, WYSIWYG was the big thing a few years ago, big new idea etc

essentially on the most basic level with WYSIWYG it means what you see on your screen will be what will be printed out - believe it or not with old word processors this was certainly NOT always the case. Nowadays people seem to use it to mean the same thing will look idential on all other computers - thats a lot more complicated as different screen resolutions and font size settings can cause editting problems for many methods, ie standard html will wrap if you make the window smaller, which can offeset tables, move pictures to the wrong place etc. Thats the reason most people choose to use PDF files for important documents (although personally I don't like them) but at least they always format the same on all systems
