Not necessarily more stable, but at least when it screws up you can mess around with it until it behaves again. That's why I don't like games consoles, they are effectively a closed box. yes, I know people hack X-Boxes, but I don't spend that kind of money to trash something.

My sugestion is wait awhile to get it when they fix all the problems, which should have been fixed before it was release . Its just like when a new os comes out, wait till all the bugs to be fixed.

Ever heard of -firmware- upgrades? I'm thinking this will solve some problems.. I really dont believe it's going to end up being hardware.

WindowsXP Home(Service pack 2), Athlon XP 2400+(2.01Ghz), 1GIG Ram, Ati Radeon 9800Pro 128MB.

What's the point of buying consoles these days? If a console has become so PC-like that it can crash, why not just buy a PC?

Well some of it is hardware related like faulty hardrives and overheating issues but some will be software related like os. I always wait a while until they fix all the bugs.

That will never happen--- they would be lying if they said it was bug free. The same goes for 99% of games.

Knowing Microsoft, they'll patch it and you'll download it through Xbox Live. It's probably an overheating issue.

Exactly, the will probably reduce the CPU speed or something in the first gen X-Boxes and then change the hardware later on

I meant they'll send a firmware upgrade which makes the fan run at lower temperatures i.e. keeping the CPU cooler
