Our good friend and fellow coder Apexnow has landed a professional game programming gig with a game development company in the UK. I wont spout the details here, he can if he likes, when he sees this. I just thought a round of congratulations was in order so...

Its called insulting you because you asked a stupid question.
If you cant be bothered to read the whole thread then dont bother posting.

Yes, I realise you were trying to insult me, but I had to have some kind of 'come-back'
Just for reference, I've constantly had the ideals of skim/scan reading drummed into my head recently because of english exams etc. and its a much harder habit to get out of than you think.

We're supposed to be congratulating Apex's job here anyway, not frying me about my inability to read properly

@APEXnow: does this mean you will have to stop Indi development?, I mean there could be a serious conflict of interests there, you could inadvertantly mimick some aspect of a game still under a NDA for example, or get so used to seeing some new game feature you could unthinkingly include it into your own code and "spill the beans", plus I think when you are working for a company where the main product is "virtual" or "meme based" they can claim anything you make during your employment as their product, I hope you still hang around and can contribute stuff though, adds a bit of class to have "serious" developers using the forum (ok! ok! you know what I mean guys lay off me ).

No because I'm contracted out under an unbrella company anyway. Basically anything I produce in my own time using my own development tools... is effectively mine.

Paul.

Nice one - I assume you're allowed to say which company it is? That's hardly NDA destroying, and I'd like to know

Ok, all good now.. The company is called StrawDog Studios

http://www.strawdogstudios.co.uk

They're a relatively young company but the scope of projects being developed is exciting and revolutionary.

Got to meet a few of the guys today who deal with modelling, Using Maya and 3D Studio etc. At anyrate, I'm gonna really enjoy learning and evolving with this company.

Paul.

P.S. Thanks for the messages people

I wouldn't if I were you. This is just a hobby of mine. I am actually an Industrial Maintenence Technician for a living. Not that I wouldn't mind doing this for a living, I just don't have the time to learn it properly.

Paul,

Nice one. Thought you were going to say Edios... are they even still in business?!?

Oh, how about getting the company to buy season tickets at Derby County and then sending them to me
