a few demos may come under the animated clip category, but as far as I know nobody has made a full actual film in DB, you could take Machinima to a new level I should think, especialy when rendering a film as you don`t have to worry about framerates, just make a frame/grab it/make a frame/grab it etc, then stitch em into a AVI when you are finished, so your scenes and FX can be as complicated as you want to make em since slowdown isn`t going to be a problem when you make a film that way.

The animation would be very hard to get perfect, as shown by Dreamcast Sonic games... lol

Hey, NeX, the animation in dreamcast Sonic is great! Remember that it was good for its time, but the Dreamcast is now classed as RETRO!

There have been discussions a long time ago, try searching for MACHINIMA here and elsewhere on the internet. People mainly use game engines, but you can apply the theories to DB.

I tried to start on an anim8ed character, but I read elsewhere in the forums that anim8ors' anim8ions cannot be used in DB. Any other anim8or type programs that can make animations that can be used in DB?

Most new animators (spelling ) animate with Boned animation. The Classic Dark Basic cannot read bones, it uses an older style ('Vertex Animation' I think it's called, but don't quote me on that)

If you get hold of a VERY old modeller, you might be able to export object animations that DB Classic can read. Alternatively, DB Professional CAN read bones, so if you had DB Pro, you should have no problems with it...

...maybe one day I'll finish a project

Anim8or 3D boned animated models can't be used in DB or DB Pro, but the 2D renders can be used, and Anim8or saves in AVI as well as individual BMP's. So I think it is the best way to make a 2D movie.

Search for "sven b's animator" in various boards. Rather nice program. Sven deserves five bucks.

In Anim8or you first make a 3D model. Try the eggplant tutorial.

Then you add a texture to the model. Use Lithunwrap.

Then you add a skeleton to the model. Very easy.

Then you scale some muscle type spheres. Easy enough.

Then you just rotate the bones of the skeleton, and the muscles bend the mesh. Anim8or can do the in-between frames for you.

So a walk could be calculated from just a few key frames.

Then you go into the scene. This is where you put your finished model. You position a camera to point at your model. You add a few lights. You can edit the model's texture a bit to make your model shiny like metal, with reflections, or a dull plastic looking material. You can have shadows etc.

Now you make a movie of your model. Frames are auto saved as individual bitmaps, or AVI.
