Here is a shot of the player stat system I am working on:

In this case, I am building a store. I cannot pick up this gun until I have enough money!

...and a download for a test coupla rooms with the features implemented.

http://brooklawnstudios.com/FPSC/PlayerStatsDemo.zip

I included a readme that details the new commands and functions I added to the .exe, and a few of the .fpi that I modified as well.

Sorry about the non-lighted screenshot, I will try to get a better one.

Looks great. Could these stats and texts alse be changed and used for other purposes? For example, the player has to find a number of objects in a level. Every time he picks up an object, one of the stats will be increasing, so that the player can see if he picked enough items already.

Bingo! Use the stats as you see fit. Even if you do not show the stat on the HUD, you can still use it via scripts, it is still running on the player.

Excellent, next logical question is...... can they be used to control the outcome of the game. For example, if one of the stats ( or a number of them combined ) equal a certain number, the player can go to the next level, or another action takes place, like a door opens and so on?

Thats great! I've been looking at doing a vending machine in my game and using money. I had an idea for part of my game where you get your ass blown off and you have to buy it back from a vending machine to go to the next level....I need to go to bed.

Does the armor work? If it does it looks promising.

Hmm... buy my ass back? Can I specify size? Tone? Other inapropiate coments?

Armor isn't all that hard...

You can probally use incstate=1 and every time the plr takes dammage, inc the state and reset plr health, then if it is too high, don't reset health... and use a timer to dec state. But i CAN'T do that.

@Conner94: The armor works perfectly, yes. I threw some code into the player damage routine to take dmg away from armor 1st if armor is >0. So it absorbs damage, 1:1 ratio. Can't go below 0.

@Benjamin: Absolutely, I included the functions for you to do checks on whatever you like. Script outcomes as normal!

Very good idea! I mean with this stuff We can make games like Grand Theft Auto III (But only firstperson ofcourse!) But I guess We have to wait until We have Car-Support first. But it wourld be good if You courld make the huds look more compact, and maybe give it a more "professional look". By the way, was this Your idea from the beginning? I think I am going to use this in a future project, thats for sure!

I don't understand why you keep bumping threads like this.

It's annoying, and somewhat noobish.

Let the guy who created it keep it alive, or let it die in peace.

Related/progressing question:
Could you save the 'stat' values in-game to a file, eg txt file. and then load them again?
Or would that need to be implemented in the FPSC source?

It could then mean that you could save stats to a server and , in multiplayer, you can keep your stats for each map you load
(...inching slowly towards GTA - lol - and have a map as a zone like the islands in GTA)
