Newcomers DBPro Corner / DBP Graphics??

Lo all, Im just after some honest answers to just one question really. Is it possible to create a game with graphics standard up to the latest games like EQ2 or and HL2?? Just curious on if it is at all possible. Hope someone can answer.

Well I would have to agree with TDK and say you would have to not only be a good programmer but a expert 3d modeller!

The thing with good graphics is you have to use a lot of polygons(most of the time)

And this slows your game down and dbp can't hanle this as well as say C++.

@Big Man- neither DBPro or C++ handle polygons, DirectX does... (well, sometimes other things for C++, but the most commonly used graphics sdk is DirectX)

I agree with TDK, it is possible but not easy in any meaning of the word.

It wasn't easy for the makers of Half Life 2 either. Just because they had a language capable of it (C++, and whatever graphics engine they used, i have no idea... maybe they made their own) doesn’t mean it was a walk in the park for them, they had multiple people working on it for months and months...

So don't expect to do it by yourself.

Don't listen to all those articles that say making 3D games are easy for people new to programming!!!! They're lieing!!!!!!!

You can make good graphics with DBP, if you have a good model that dosnt slow down your game.

Sorry to get off topic, but which is better for graphics: OpenGL or DirectX? I dont know which one to learn...

Well, actually, to the guy that said that games with good graphics use alot of polygons, halo 2 has alot better graphics then halo 1, but most of halo 2's models use fewer polygons then halo 1's models.

Yeah nowadays models have low poly counts but use normal maps or bumpmapping to add more detail and realisim.
