Trouble is, it seems the instructions for setting up VS 2005, compiling & transfering to the device seem rather vague...

I own a PSP and a majority of the games I play on it are emulated NES ones. [edit] There is quite a bit of applications and games already ported and out, I found this site in my searches, http://wiki.gp2x.org/wiki/Main_Page. It's only a matter of time before someone gets Bochs on there and runs Windows off of it. I remember seeing Windows 95 being emulated on Pocket PCs a year or two ago.

Vague? Hardly, if you look on that wiki I'd say it's pretty simple to get started with VS2005. They've got step by step instructions to get people started. If you think this is still tough, you should take a look at the documentation that microsoft provides for driver development. That stuff is beyond cryptic.

These are absolutely excellent devices - a friend of mine has one and I fully inted getting one soon, and I have the predecessor the GP32 - Torrey if you like emulating either the gp32 or this would be infinitley preferable to you I use my GP32 for playing NES, SNES Master System, Megadrive, MAME, & certain PC DOS games, and the media handling is far better than the PSP too - the gp32 will literally run any video file at any resolution, and it takes camera memory so is much cheaper to buy replacement media for

eBay had one in the USA for $202 right now. Seems a little expensive. If the price was around $100-150 it would be perfect.

Also noticed I have a typo in the thread title...

So tempting... I hope to run into one in the mall someday ^_^ Website address says South Korea after all, so it's not unlikely to find an imported one here.

I wonder how they'll port NetHack there...

"An American, a Japanese, and a Filipino got stranded in an island full of cannibals. The cannibals gave the three of them a chance to escape..." (See profile for story)

I'm quick like lightning this morning, USA retailer below.

Links to other countries selling it:

This is just an opinion, but it seems like all the hardest of hard core gamers and products come from the UK or Germany.

do be warned they are currently more like beta devices ATM, the full release for them is next year, the current batches where intended more for the devs and people porting games over than general public use, that said they have a lot of stuff ready for the GP2X right now, they just have some initial problems with build quality atm, they had to recall the whole of the Korean batch due to problems, and some people have found some brands of sd card can`t be read by the device, it eats batterys on some units and some other niggles, but all this is due to be sorted, I am following avidly, I am currently into C++ and looking forwards to running my stuff on a handheld, I reckon that will be cool , as soon as things settle down and I get back into work I`m gonna get one.

you can learn a lot from studying things with a magnifying glass, did you know that on a sunny day ants are prone to spontaniously combust?

They're brickable without modding the core OS files?
