Is there a way to download yaBasic for the ps2? I heard it comes in a demo disk but I do not seem to have it. If you can download it then can you put it on a disk and run it on ps2?

Even if you could download it, you won't be able to run it unless your PS2 has been modded so it can run CD-RW / DVD-R/W disc.

Has it?

PS2 disks are usually special 'blue' disks. An unchipped PS2 only wants to run music CD's, movie-DVD's and official PS2 DVD-based games/demos.

It's fussy, and built to be so.

YABasic was horrid, if I remember. Admittedly, the problem with the keyboard interface being very quirky indeed (it liked to repeat key presses a lot) and didn't make it any better, but it was not that great. Made snake in it, then put it to bed. (No, I don't have the DVD with it on any more - it came with the PS2 a loooong time ago. Soz)

i thought that the PS and PS2 could run normal CDs, but only ran EXEs off the CDs if a certain code was in a certain file on the CD, inorder to secure from people like us being able to make our own games for them (OH NO!!!!).

Maybe I was wrong, and I shoul just go back to being a pirate

I don't think he means specific exe files, he just meant the executable file of the game (whatever format it may be)

I shall assume that means demo disk

I had a copy (and still do). I think I went from a click 'n' drag game maker to YBASIC and then onto DB. But click 'n' drag and YABASCIC might be the other way around.

There really is nothing special about it, you can't use pre-made sprites or models like you can with DB, everything has to be drawn in YB with the drawing commands (line, dot, circle that sort of thing).

Some of the demo programs are nice though.

Pity about YABASIC for the PS2 is that it doesn't support 3D, which is the real bugger.

Of course, you'd need a modelling program to make models, but even simple 3D would be better than boring, slow, & interpreted 2D.
