Its almost 2006, so I want to know what, in your guys opinion, was the best games of 05. Personally I thought it was Resident Evil 4 and God of War.

I believe and know for a fact that SOCOM III, was definately the best. I also really liked Lumines, SOCOM : Fireteam Bravo, and Mercenaries wasn't too bad.

Indigo Prophecy.(Fahrenheit)

By the way, the topic for this thread is 'Best games of 06, not 05..', while we're on the track of saying which games are the best of 05, what're the games your most excited about for 2006?

Mine would be Gears of War, Elder Scrolls Oblivion, Project IM(If it comes out 2006), Halo 3(maybe?), Burnout Revenge... Obviously all of my games are supported for the 360, which made my choices somewhat slanted towards one console.

WindowsXP Home(Service pack 2), Athlon XP 2400+(2.01Ghz), 1GIG Ram, Ati Radeon 9800Pro 128MB.

Maybe F.E.A.R?

I'm on the lookout for RE5 next year, but I'm guessing I'll be waiting until later (maybe early 2007)

The newest game I own is either 007 Nightfire, or Indianna Jones and the Emperor's Tomb.

I must admit, I was very disappointed with Quake 4... until I got into it.

I have to say it's the best game of the year.
but mostly because every other game released this year sucked.

The only contender for me is Resident Evil 4, nothing else comes close - it's perfect.

I'd say RE4, Guild Wars, and Indigo Prophecy are tied for me. F.E.A.R. was also a fun one... and Lumines is good for travelling. Its hard to pick just one game for this year though, as there was really no STAND OUT game, such as last year (Half-Life 2).

Biggest disapointment in my eyes (Joel shall hate) was Quake 4. Felt too little like Quake, too much like Doom 3 for my liking.

Hopefully next year will bring a few good games, been looking foward to Gears of War since all the E3 coverage it got... and it also seems DOA 4 is going to be a 2006 game (i swear they have pushed it back 20 times now). Oblivion also looks nice.

I found RE4 kinda frusterating with that little red light for a crossfire . Hard to aim.

You all really suck. Civilization 4 has taken its rightful place for me. 491 hr so far.Still only in industrial age, enemy advancing with christian crusade. I chose to be budhist, and it payed off when the romans took it as their religion, as they were the biggest nation. They just signed an open war pact against the french with me. My war with the french went slowly until calvary was invented..then it started going good, as france was still with medieval units. Dont get me started on the english and americans. Those two have been at war since I found them. They have both lost cities, and both look like they are about to die. Americans have a few wonders, but I have most. I also have the most cities in the game, but they are close, and pacted. Anyways, CIV4, or die.

We have fallen Into an abyss! Dear God captian! There all Bars.

who the hell cares it was played in 2005,

i dont think many games were that amazing but i played the cod2 demo and it seemed fun so i guess the full version would be better, assuming it has less bugs , and i like bf2.

but this kind of opic is pretty stupid unless everyone on the forums got shipped every single pc game released in 2005.

Actually I work for a company that has basically every single game made (for every console and PC) in the last 15 years to borrow for free, on an unlimited basis, so it is quite possible that some of us were able to play all of these games

HL2 XBox is only just out.

I know most people will scoff, but really, it's an awesome conversion - impressed the hell out of me that they did'nt shirk and wait for the 360, I'm glad I bought it - even though I already played through the PC version.

Hey, still talking about this year's games, I am changing my best game.

I picked up Indigo Prophecy (mentioned on the first page, called 'Fahrenheit' in Europe) a few days ago and have to say it's an amazing game. The music, voices and story are beautiful, the gameplay mechanics are innovative (A murder mystery where you play both the murderer and the detectives hunting him down!) and the visuals, although slightly bland, get the job done fine.

Not many people actually bought this game, and it deserved much more attention than it got. If you come across a copy, I urge you to buy it. It was a fantastic game and has heaps of replayability (I managed to get it for $25!). It got two awards from IGN's Games of the Year (Best Adventure Game (PC) and Best Game No-one Played (PS2)). Anyway, enough preaching, my favourite game of '05 is:

Indigo Prophecy (Fahrenheit)
