Ok, in my house we write xmas lists to give each other an idea of what prezzies we could get for each other, but to be honest, I havent got a clue what I want. So help!! Nothing too expensive ... what could I get compo related, or software, or anything? Random suggestions to get me thinking!

Well...you hadn't really mentioned the type of people you'd be giving presents too...

Unless ofcourse your great aunt would love a bundle of DBP, Half-Life 2 and a 512mb stick of RAM.

haha. Mate, it's a list for presents for me! Read the post again!

Edit: Actually, I guess you could interpret it that way, but no ... prezzies list is for what I want, so I can give it to other people so they can use it as a guide for what to get me.

Ah mis-read that. It's a slow day today, sorry...

Well, if you're a man on the move, I would recommend jumping into the hand-held scene and order a GP2X.

Anything from http://www.thinkgeek.com/
I recommend the caffeine soap for that fresh morning start.

Clothing from http://www.jinx.com/
I'm getting the "Have Towel, Will Travel (42)" sweat shirt.(You people know who you are!)

Books from http://www.oreilly.com/
Nothing like a good read. No, porn does not count as reading.

Also, a pet penguin would kick ass.

You can never have too many socks and nobody ever thinks to buy people socks at Xmas!

I good book from Amazon never goes amiss.

Two I recommend are "How long is a piece of string?" and "Why do buses come in threes?". The guy who wrote them gave a lecture I attended yesterday, he's a fantastic guy. The books are about everyday questions, and how maths explains them.

Well, books are generally cheaper then software, and he said software is a yes. Also, I wasn't talking about think-geek.

hehe. Cheers chaps so far. Well, socks are a given. I'll be getting socks and aftershave and a bar of choccy for sure. No doubt Tescos socks, lynx aftershave and dairymilk choccy. If I dont get those prezzies ... I'll ... I'll eat the chocy, wear the socks and splash my face with aftershave! How's that for a bet?

GP2X is a no no megs cos I'd never get a chance to use it! I might hit amazon for some book ideas though. How about DVDs? Anyone suggest any new releases that are worth picking up?

Gah. Need more suggestions. At the moment I have a CD written down, and that's it. And that's only because I couldnt think of anything else. Unfortunately I'm at that time of life where I want a new car and a house. **** it! I'll put those on the list anyway, just incase. hehehehe.

Gift Ideas with TravisP v2! With no books or clothes, tho, lack of caffeine products this time is a let down.

Games:
Neverwinter Nights Diamond Edition-Has all expansion packs, $30 a bargain I say!
Age of Empires 3- Its Age of Empires
We Love Katimari- Nanaaanaanananananana

DVDs:
Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children- Get Japanese version or wait till English(Jan 20th). I've seen the Japanese "copy" before it was released, It's very good.
Ghost In The Shell- The series or the movies, they are all packed with futuristic action.

Something cheap, eh?

I think 3D Studio max went down to only $4,999, and maya is only $1,999. You can also get Renderman for Maya for $1,000.

All of them come in cheese form.

I'm academically eligable for all Microsoft software for free. .. some alliance thing with uni so Microsoft can saturate the market with graduates who know Microsoft software inside and out. Bonus for me, yet another evil underhand Microsoft technique. I'm just a pawn.

@TravisP
Cheers for the sensible suggestions! Looking at games and books still ...

Oh man, I couldn't ask for that book. So far I've bought a DirectX programming book and a physics modelling book from Amazon, and both have killed me off. Bedtime reading! I know it's really useful stuff, and I really want to know it and understand it, but I can never bring myself to learn a lot of complex maths by myself.

It's like, it'd be awesome to be able to withstand stupid amounts of pain, but I'm not gonna hit my tackle with a brick before bedtime every night to get there! Maybe I'll look for more sedate bedtime reading, like game programming theory and techniques, or something like that.
