I'm just in the process of setting up an author page for myself and I just wanted to get some feedback on how the design looks right now before I get too busy on it.

Here's the link: [href]www.ChrisLeitch.com[/href]

Any suggestions?

My first thought: Welcome to this weeks edition of "Black and white"..

I think you could maybe do with modifying the colour scheme a little, maybe make the colums a horizontal gradient that fades from very dark grey into black and keep the middle section black?

I personally prefer serif fonts, like Arial, Tahoma and Verdana. I'm not a big fan of sans serif fonts, especially when they're small like that.

It does please me (from a webmasters perspective) to see you used CSS and DIV's and not tables.
You could probably make the pages load quicker in the future if you transfer all your CSS into 1 file and have that included in the header. The browser will cache the CSS so not only will the client have 1 less thing to download (allbeit less than 2Kb), but you save bandwidth

Alternatively, keep it the way you have it, but make the borders less white. They're a little too bold I think.

Apart from that - its a good site imho. Its nice to see a good design on here rather than a "LOOK AT MY MODIFIED TEMPLATE!!!!" type post

Damn you Nick. You took my comments.

On another note, Izzt do you make your own covers for that Lulu service? Or do they make one for you? I'm curious because I've been writing a story for fun latley and may think of putting it up there.

You can do either, they have a list of pre-made covers(it adds your title and name) or you can upload your own.

Thanks for the comments guys, glad it works. And I took your advice Nicholas and made just one style sheet that all the pages load from, that way I can edit just that and change the entire thing...

Oh, and I have a quick question, on my side bar I have the featured content, but I'd like to make it randomly pick one of my novels and feature it there whenever you visit it... I'm guessing I'll have to use PHP to do this? Any tips or help with this?
