This game is finally in production! A demo I made got alot of people after a full game. The demo is available here:
http://www.verydevastating.com/dmhunt.zip

This demo is OPEN SOURCE
download source and media here:

****************************************************
*Now the good stuff*********************************
****************************************************
Monster Hunt 2 is a first person shooter in DBC with slow motion (not due to bad coding, it's only when you hold shift). The demo has a pistol, an AK 47, and a Rocket Launcher (the follow up to the awesome particle bullet gun in the original).

The slow motion doesn't really shine in the screenshots, but it's amazing to see. Just hold shift in the demo and gravity, bullet speed, sounds, movement, explosions... everything moves and happens slower, the sync rate stays the same.

Here are some features so far:
3 weapons
up to 20 bullets at a time in the air (modelled by me)
up to 30 bullet holes at a time
ten blood splats that cycle
full slow motion integrated into every aspect of the game from sound to kick to movement...
good performance
and many more to come

******************************************************
In the full game, there will be other enemies that shoot at you (not jsut monsters now) and bullet time will be a tactic thats in limited supply. There will of course be monsters also.

I've already started working on the pathfinding. In some areas of the game it will be dynamic (in the upcoming woods level, for example) and in others it will be scripted pop-out-and-growl AI (in the more linear of the levels.)

************************************************************

In the meantime, here are the screens (the download link is after)

normal with the AK:

slow motion with the AK. I sprayed some and ran to teh other side of the level. They were flying towards me in this screenshot which was a really cool effect. Try dodging them in the demo (you'll need the practice for the full game). you can check your score by checking for blood on the wall behind you!

some bullets about to hit the wall

and the rocket launcher's missile in action. much better than in the original I might add

Please download. It's really awesome, I promise. The screens just look plain but it's worth it, and I packed it into less than 2 megs.

Oh...I for got to say. You should make the shoot button the right mouse button instead. It is easier to get to than space.
Just a suggestion...

Oh...Whoops. I meant the jump button should be the right mouse button. Sorry
I'm just used to using that button for jumping.

hehe it's okay

quake 3 got me that way back in the day but battlefield 1942 brought me back to using space.

i'll probly put that in

I'm working on a short bank level based loosely on the one in The Matrix to show off the actual bullet time combat. Look for it in a couple of days.

this WIP has been kind of a dud so I'll be back with a gameplay demo. DB newbie has contributed some buildings he made and I made a partial interior of a bank so tehre will be a cool level set inside a bank in a city coming up, complete with AI.

Thanks everyone for your comments, please come see me again in the new thread in a couple of days!
