Yup, you read it correctly - £9.97, from Tesco. It's like a USB key, with a blue backlit LCD display, and I have to say that right now Gorillaz are sounding damn good on it!

In-store, the box says £29.99. There are signs showing it as £19.99, but the till price is £9.97. A price ending in 97p usually means limited stock, no more available when they're gone.

It looks very similar, but not exactly like:

They are good players. Flash based mp3 players have been getting cheaper and cheaper, I bought my wife a 128mb one of those for 30 quid just over a year ago and thought it was a bargain, I now see exactly the same ones being sold for between 4 and 12 pounds depending on where you buy them - madness, as the sound and build quality are very good

I like the idea of the Ipod Nano, as all my other ipods hard drives packed in, so a decent capacity flash base one is much more appealing to me

Oh dear. It's depressing I am seriously considering getting one of those for my girlfriend. Christmas is gonna be tight this year, and so we both agreed not to get each other extravagant presents.... but that is a little too non-extravagant...

1000 points to anyone who can find me a cheap 256MB MP3 player with FM tuner.

Most of the cheap ones come with a FM tuner these days, in fact I haven't seen one without a tuner for ages!

This one also has voice recording, and you can use it as a removable drive. While you're at Tesco, you can get a mini FM Tuner and earphones for £4.

That sounds very like the one my older sister bought not so long ago for £20 or so.

in the local pound shop they have mini FM digital scanning tuners for (you guessed it) £1, I just don`t know how they manage to make em for the money, a radio, the case the headphones packaging and a battery for one quid, I wouldn`t want to be making those for a living

All they are (mini-FM tuner) is some copper coiled around a metal bar, a battery, a variable transistor and a few more transistors...

I mean, your TFT monitor has 3 transistors for every pixel. Assuming a (slightly low) 1024x768 'native' resolution, that's 2,359,296 transistors in your monitor.

So they're quite cheap anyway.

...Although you are right, you wouldn't earn a lot making those things... Most of the cost would be taken up by shipping, the profit added by the shop itself & the parts in the first place.

A variable capacitor, you mean? You also forgot to mention the hi-tech looking box to put it all in, which is what really raises the price.

I need a cheap SD memory card for my palm. Anybody know of any? Then I can use it as a MP3 player. 256mb will do.

try this site, best prices I know of (uk)

https://www.picstop.co.uk/Secure-Digital-(SD)

do make sure your device supports the size you order, some older devices have pretty low limits, my Tungsten-E can use 1gb cards.

I find http://www.7dayshop.com is cheaper...

My parents went away for the weekend recently and my dad brought one of these back and smugly turned to me and went "Guess how much this was!!" I looked and umm-ed and ahh-ed and just said "I think about £9.77" and he just said "How the hell you guess that?"
