That game where you were King Kong, some giant werewolf or an iguana, and you ran around the city eating people and breaking buildings/cars. What was the name of that thing? Haven't played it in so long!

You really can't decide which you enjoyed more? You can't even decide which one you would buy from the store if you could only pick one? Oh dear.

they're not the same game...

i would pick HL2 tho because it has multiplayer worth playing, and I play multiplayer games with my friends more than single player, D3 wasn't built for multiplayer, orriginally they weren't even going to INCLUDE multiplayer. They are completely different games, since they have the same camera view, it doesn't mean they're the same game

Obviously not, otherwise it would be VERY hard to pick which is better.

Games don't have to be similar to be comparable, I can easily choose which I like better out of NFS Underground and FEAR, and they're not even close to the same genre. Game magazines rank games of all genres, all the time - it's not exactly a hard feat to accomplish.

Half-Life 2 for the story, but not for Steam or the long loading and setup times.
Doom 3 for the story, but not for the constant darkness, and short game time of the sequel.
Nicholas Kingsley for being just absolutely magnificent again...

Halflife 2 is a better engine, and the single player game is probably the best of the three on PC. [edit] oh yeah I forgot to say I HATE steam with a passion, and almost all it stands for. when I play hl2 I use my full boxed product version and crack it. No other way for it to be usable realistically on any normal pc.

Farcry on the pc just sucks in my opinion. Its got some nice looking shaders and I like the bright crisp colours but the gameplay mechanics just don't gel together properly and it feels more like a tech demo than a finished AAA product. Instincts on xbox is a far better game however.

On Xbox Doom 3 is the best, it's gameplay seems to suit a console better than the rest in my opinion. Plus if you get the limited edition set it includes doom 1 & 2 which are both infinitely better than ANY of the 3 you mentioned

I'd have to say that Doom 3 is the better, for a number of reasons.

1. Multi-platform.
2. Only 1 load screen per level\section, not 5 or more.
3. No Steam.
4. No "stutter bug".
5. John Carmack is way cooler than Gabe.

Half-Life 2 --- I've never had issues with Steam, so I don't know what the big deal is.

I just love the storyline

... or any game that is a game, but only if there is some sort of struggle or competition in the game. Oh, and it has to have a beginning and an ending.

Doom 3, out of the one's you mentioned.

However i would pick F.E.A.R or Quake 4 over all three.

doom3 was just poor, but we've had that argument in another thread so.. Quake4 I would of picked if it was up there, but as it isnt going to have to be hl2.
