Ok, I wasn't sure where to post this, but, what's the difference between games in the beta stages and games in the alpha stages?

I always thought that ALPHA was the test of the ENGINE, BETA was the test of the LEVELS w/ the engine.

Thats why I call DO "Alpha" version while other people like to say they are in Beta but they arent :/

Alpha = when all the screens, sounds, art and content are in the game. Far from bug-free--- but now the QA can test away.

Beta = when all the remaining bugs are shippable (i.e. no crash bugs). Beta is when producers will start auto-shipping minor bugs and only authorizing important fixes.
