I was thinking the other day, if any one here ever knew of the games factory and how good it was at 2d. Would it be possible to do the same thing but in 3d if so it would be better than the 3d game maker.
I beleive Lee barmer worked on the games factory.

Just thought I would propose that little gold mine for you to have.

If you dont remember/know the games factory take a quick look

Yeah, I recall the story now, you and Lee branched off to make DBC after working on that one.

I bought both Click & Play as well as The Games Factory.

Who was the guy who presented the tutorial video for Click & Play? In the lime green shirt. He was a little sinister.

I have the Beta of The Games Factory 2, and to be honest, not impressed, still no Save/Load option, and dont look like it does much more than TGF 1.

The Games Factory was awesome, you could do a surprising ammount in it, the pseudo ai and scripting via clicking options was really intuitive and flexible. After buying The Games Factory and using it for a few months, I was so impressed with it I spent 400 pounds to buy the version with the option to sell your games royalty free on a business load. Until I started wanting to make 3d games, it satisied my games creation needs and I didn't bother properly programming for nearly 2 years, until I saw DBC in a magazine The flexibility and usability of TGF was what inspired me to make the Quikly suite of software as there is no 3d games creation program yet as flexible as TGF was for 2d - FPSC comes close, if it was faster and allowed different camera perspectives, hopefully Quikly will do all I want it to eventually though

But back to the main question. Do you reckon something like the games factory could be converted to create 3D games?

well, that's what kangaroo just said he was doing

i used to have TGF, it sucked, the output was buggy, and the program itself crashed so often, i had to bind it to ctrl+alt+G in windows so i didn't have to keep clicking the icon... on the other hand, it got me into game making, and then 3d and made me more of an analytical thinker, trying to come up with AI routines.

Aoneweb: you could do load/save using the .ini functions

This is so true, but I remember, people were asking for a built in function to set it up, maybe a Save/Load editor? However it did not come.
I think they should have included it in TGF2, so far I can’t see any big difference in this version, that would make it stand out from V1.
I would like to point out another good 2D click type game maker, The Gamemaker, now at version 6.x, it has a book coming out soon.
