On the website, the picture of the FPS Creator has a 12+ rating on it.
I was just wondering, since when does software have to be rated? DB or The 3D Game Maker wasnt rated,so why was this?
Just wondering about this, it makes the program look a lil unproffesional.

You are pretty unsmart.

Yep, I might even go as far as to say that you are stupid.

be carefull jimmy, the fine line of humour vs insult is pretty blatant in this posting dude,

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

The answer is simple enough really. FPSC is a game designed to make FPS's, and thus is inherently a little bit violent, thus a rating. DB, DBPro and T3DGM can make different types of games, both violent and nonviolent, the end result being what the consumer makes. Thus they don't have a rating because there is no way the explicitly determine what kind of game content they will contain

And Jimmeh, you're getting ruder by the day. Those testicles decending?

FPSC would need a rating in order to be sold in stores, DBPro however would'nt because it's an application.

It's really upto us to rate our own DBPro efforts, I'm not sure if it's ever been an issue, but I'll certainly need a 15 rating on Lonewolf to avoid complaints from angry mothers.

What part of the world do you live? I've seen ratings on pretty much every retail game for over 10 years....

Same here, perhaps his country doesn't use a rating system though.

Well, excusez MOI for expecting people to practice a little common sense. I mean, rather than stopping and thinking logically for a moment, his first inclination is to post this thread and look like a complete moron.

But, I suppose 'stupid' WAS too strong a word. 'Ignorant' would have been a better choice... But hey, you can't rewrite the past, so I guess it's staying.

Oh well.

Jimmy > While your posts usually bring a smile to my face (and the whole 'butt trumpeteer' thing made me fall about laughing) I think the problem was that you didn't even point the dude in the right direction; If you'd explained that FPSC contains zombies, shotguns and blood splats then perhaps Indi and Flibble (both Australians... Coincidence? I think NOT! ) would've let it fly.

I couldn't call him stupid AND tell him why. That would just be condescending.

I wanted him to figure it out for himself. Which he did. It was obvious that I called him stupid because I am more stupid, and he caught on to that. I'm proud of the little guy

Fllyyy, like a stonnneeedd biirdddiie...

Wat? Looks to me like someone forgot to feed Jimmy his 2kg package of sugar this morning.

That would explain everything.

(I reckon FPSC had to be age rated just because it's a gore-ridden FPS engine at heart... With DB you could create anything, perhaps including 18+ or unrateable games, but it's like with CS; you can't slap a high age rating on it just because people use porn sprays of their own making, can you?
Tbh FPSC's rating is a controversial issue, but it gets the point across to sensitive parents.. No-one's going to try and sue TGC for saying that they gave their 8-year-old child FPSC and that it corrupted their delicate eyes & ears with depictions of bloody gore & violence.
What? What? What? What? Feed jimmy sugar!)

[edit]Damn, a mod must've smiled, therefore creating a hole in the space-time continuum... I swear I didn't see jimmy's most recent post before i posted this. *shouts POST! POOOOOSSSTTT!1 at poor random people on MSN list*

Doom III.... big red circle with 18 inside it on the spine
HalfLifeII.... white circle with 15 on the spine
Halflife generation.... elspa logo on back with 15+ inside it
Halo.... 16+ on front of box
Unreal Tournament 2004.... 16+ on front of box
Homeworld 2 (strategy).... 12+ on front of box
Quake II.... elspa 15+ on back of box
Elite force II.... 16+ on front of box
Space colony.... 12+ on front of box
Evil genious.... 12+ on front of box
Return to castle Wolfenstein.... red circle with 15 on front of box
Half life 2.... red circle with 15 on front of box
Gunman Chronicles.... elspa 15+ logo on back
Sim City 3000.... elspa 3+ logo on back (as if your average 3 yr old could play simcity3k)
Black and White.... elspa 11+ logo on back of case
Doom collectors edition.... red circle with 15 inside
Messiah.... red circle with 15 inside

thats just what I can see on the cases visible from where I am sat, every case I looked at has an age rating on it, with Darkbasic you can make "the fluffy bunny hoppity simulator" or "the human flesh slaughterhouse and necrophiliac simulator", but the choice of content is down to the coder and hence outside the control of TGC, with the pointy clicky thing you get violence built in by default, so it needs a rating, you might have noticed notepad doesn`t have any rating either, despite it being possible to write anything from poems to porn stories with it, same difference.

I meant that applications like Photoshop, dont have a rating on them,so Im suprised this does.....and ya, I noticed that games have a rating in the USA,but I guess if it has gory pre-made content then it should be rated.

So what part of "Cyberspace" are you from then? I mean the UK has had ratings on most games for years. Only the more violent ones tend to get a big sticker on the front, but I'm pretty positive every game has a note at the back for the age range.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

FPSC isn't gory...
The guys just release spraypaint when they are shot.

But you can't make a killing game without a high rating...
O wait, you can, just convince people that you shoot darts, and that everyone is just sleeping.
