You to grant me the power of the Mods!
While you are/were here, just as a note, I am not allways right, but if I am wrong I want to know HOW it is wrong, not just the technicalitys. And most certainly not some error in what I said.
After digging around for ages I managed to pull up the right drivers for my graphics card. I still need my sound, Ethernet drivers, but with the graphix drivers I can see how 98 runs... well, I am going to have to re-install 98 because DX 9 is causing issues with some older games I have (Backwards compatability?) but there is a signifigant differance. Windows XP where you have to wait a few seconds on a 512MB 1.8GHz to open my computer, 98 is almost instant. And programs that run don't encounter moments of lag.
Of course there are many downsides, One being that AMD won't support drivers for 98, so now my processor will run at full speed. And from what I have gathered, I am gonna need a third party driver to get sound in, because once again, no support. 98 Does have a long loading time, and probally because of some hardware compatability error, 98 doesn't shut down my laptop, it will unload itself perfectly, but I have to manually shut down after that. Some programs do crash, but I have only recieved the blue screen of death once. And that was while trying to install drivers, probally ended up installing XP drivers (yeah, I was attempting a lot of manual installations).
So here comes a question. Why do we even use windows? Wouldn't it be more effecent for the gammers to simply have bootcds for each of their games, which uses minimal resources yet creates the best environment for the game?
