too true, especialy when the Trek universe is non canon (inconsistent) and so moral you just know the inhabitants of the federation would have died out from sheer boredom centuries ago, hell! even the holodeck is culturaly something that would have almost removed the desire to explore the universe, why do it at immense risk when you can live in any virtual possibility you or your race can devise for no risk?, I actualy don`t mind episode 1 of starwars, not even Jar Jar is that annoying, it makes it the start of a nice progression from a sort of silly happy go lucky utopia to a universe wrapped in a civil war, flippancies like Jar Jar fade out and are gone by episode 4, he has a short bit in clone wars and is at the funeral at the end of revenge of the Sith, I don`t get too Jazzed up about it, like Lucas said, its all those old Flash Gordon movies brought up to date, it`s meant to be fun, not a social documentary or a science lecture, I enjoy it even with Jar Jar (although it would have been nice if he was on the steps of the temple when Darth came back for the gorefest
)
yousa notsa gotta dosa this Anikin!
ZZZZZT!
<thud..thud>
Vader doesn`t even break stride...half of Jar Jar to the left, half to the right
