Geek Culture / cmd does not work - i need help with this

cmd refuse to start and instead it opens "cmd.com" when its supposed to open "cmd.exe".

it appears as "cmd.com" is waiting for something, because i can not write anything in the window.

when i start "command" and write a dos command i get an error message.

when i start "cmd.exe" and write a dos command it opens "cmd.com" again and it appears to be waiting for something :S

has this happened to anyone else?
what could cause this problem?
and most importantly how can i fix this?

i really need the cmd to work because i use it alot
and seeing as it is unfunctional give me less reason to spend "developing" time on the computer.

Sounds like a virus or spyware has dropped a cmd.com file in search path. Googling comes up with lots of answers.

Try searching disk for odd cmd.com programs and run a virus check before your pc dies of death.

wow thanks

i installed microsoft Visual Web Developer Express and visual c++.
then uninstalled them. do you think those might have something to do with it? because i think i remember seeing c++ using a .com file. but i may be totally mistaken

btw, looking at the link now, thanks.

nvm by looking at the page on that link i defenetley know for sure that its a virus thanks alot. now i gotta kill it
