Well, for many of you this may be like a "Well...uh...nice job " sorta thing, but for me its a bit of an accomplishment. I just finished building my new PC and installing all my old software on it. So this is the first time I can say "Its Done"

Ive never built a PC before, and it was a lot of work making sure everything would work out correctly, and it did It was confusing at times, but I got everything installed and I booted to the POST screen first try I got frustrated a lot during the course of construction, but managed to get it all done, and boy is it a rewarding feeling. You kind of have a "bond" with your PC after you build it, like its your child

System Specs
Case: Thermaltake XASER Armor Series (Full Tower, 4 Fans)
Mobo: ASUS-A8N SLI Premium
PSU: NeoPower 480w
CPU: Athlon 64 3000+ Socket 939
GPU: eVGA Geforce 6800GS 256mb SLI (soon might get another)
RAM: 2GB of corsair 184-PIN DDR-400 RAM

Booted up WoW and pumped all my visual settings all the way up and I still run smoothly inside major cities (ie. Orgrimmar) That game is actually good looking xD My last PC dropped to .3 FPS while in Orgrimmar with all visual settings at their BARE MINIMUMS

Now I can start working on some sexy FX for Eternal Destiny because well...now I can know if they are working

Well, Im happy - Happy Holidays to all of yoo

And here is an image of my new modded desktop The model is Ale Amrosio, my friend met her at an airport at 3am and was like "Hey...arent you a victorias secret angel? Can I get a pic with you?" She's also on the cover of 2005 Christmas Edition

Didnt want to directly post the image as that would be 1024*768

Question: On my old PC, when I went AFK for a period of time with no active programs running (eg. WoW) my computer would go back to the login screen. Also, when I booted up my computer, Id have to select my user name. Does anyone know how to enable this option? Right now my computer boots straight to my desktop and when I go afk it just presents the screensaver. I tried to find an answer on the MS Website and on google, but no luck Any help would be appreciated

@RPGamer - Go to Control Panel, User Accounts, "Change the way users log on or off", then check "Use the Welcome screen".

That will bring you to the welcome screen every time you turn on the computer. You can set the account passwords in User Accounts.

If you want it to go to the welcome screen after your screen saver starts, right click on the desktop, Properties, Screen Saver, and check "On resume, display Welcome screen". This will return you to the Welcome screen, and will require a password to be typed in if set in User Accounts.

That should do everything you're looking for.

Cash: I have "use the welcome screen checked" but well...it doesnt use the welcome screen Do I have to enable passwords in order for it to prompt me, or add a second user or what?

I tried going to the screen saver menu before, but there is no "On resume, display Welcome Screen" only a "On resume, display password" I tried checking that, but it did nothing O_O

On my old PC I had no passwords set, but it still prompted me to do this..weird. Thanks though.

@RPGamer - Hmmm... I suppose add a guest account as an experiment. It sounds odd though, as my wife's laptop has only the main account and still goes to the welcome screen on bootup.

BTW, do you have Windows Service Pack 2 installed? It's a 266 mb download, and it downloads automatically with Windows update, but it's pretty slow that way. When I reloaded my wife's laptop, I had all kinds of dumb problems with XP - a lot of small differences I wasn't used to. I'd go looking for options that weren't there. Pretty frustrating. I directly downloaded it from Microsoft and it fixed everything for me.

To make it go to the Welcome Screen after you go AFK, go to the Screensaver tab of the Desktop properties window, and there's a little checkbox about showing the Welcome Screen after you return somewhere... I can't check it myself as I disabled the Welcome Screen (Hugely increased boot up speed and shutdown ).

Yeah I got it set. It needed another user. My two users are "High Overlord John" (thats me) with me as a display pic, and the other one is "You are NOT John" with a little sad smiley face as the display pic Its these small things that humor me

Yep, but believe it or not, I buy 90% of my music off of iTunes. Sometimes its just not on there though (live versions and stuff like that...) I like to watch live videos to see how the guitarists play stuff.

I use Limewire too Only for stuff I can't find legally though - like certain live, accoustic, accapella versions etc.

Just a quick question about
Quote: "new modded desktop"
if that's ok. Did you use one of those windows blinds type programs to make the desktop or did you use another method. I'm thinking it's about time I gave my peasea a bit of get up and go and wouldn't mind giving xp a face lift while I'm at it.
