Is it possible to draw all 2d and 3d offscreen and do like a double buffer or screen swap to speed up fps?

Sorry old amos professional user here.

I'm finding that dbp is rather slow when u start doin large scale char ai, with real time terrain altering by 2 different entities, and collision ect..

hope this isnt a too newbish question.

thanks in advance

Most of it is taken care of for you. You are already using a backbuffer, it's built in to the DB Pro engine. You can speed up some 2D stuff by using LOCK PIXELS where appropriate. Take a look at the screen transition tutorial in the newsletter from a couple of months ago, that used pixel locking.
