I'm having some real problems.... I've used code that DarkBASIC has in a tutorial and I've only changed the 3d model that it imports.... I've modelled this in Cinema 4D R9.5 and exported as a .x file and this is what I get. the first one is what is rendered in C4D and the second is DarkBASIC..... Why does it look like this? :s

I'm not sure. It happens to me too. It doesn't do that if you texture it though. That always fixes it.

Okay, I'm all new to this and stuff, so I'm throwing a very big noobish question at you all, bare with me please

Is texture information held inside of the .x file or do I need to do something else to texture it?

okay.. I read up some more on darkbasic and I've gotten it textured, but it looks exactly the same except with a texture applied.

hm..looks single sided to me. that happened with a gun i loaded in darkbasic, textured,so texturing wont help it. eventually it sorta just stopped looking like that,no clue why though... im thinking its a problem with the model itself maybe, cuz i know im not a modeler but i know some stuff about models from a previous gamemaking program i used. but just try to texture it i guess, that may help

Can you post a picture of the textured mushroom? I want to see what it looks like.

Try exporting as 3ds. Then you can convert to x later if you want.

Try inverting the faces. Or turn culling on. I think it's just that it ignores the backside of each reversed polygon...

Exported as 3ds and obviously I can't do that in the trial version.. Kind of sucks that I can't try and resolve the problem...Kind of lowers my interest in buying DarkBASIC Pro.

@UFO: It looks exactly the same textured only red/blue colored

The faces are the wrong way, invert them.

scale object 1,-100,-100,-100 (to do what benjamin said assuming your object was object #1)

Im not sure how to use C4D, but if you're using any sort of rendering effects like smooth/shine etc..., then they wont load into DB the way they appear in C4D.

Try loading them into another free program, then save them again as 3DS or even X again. Maybe Lithunwrap is a good choice. Actually, I think I did that when I used Cinema 4D. Cinema 4D was free full version on a magazine many years ago.
