I have a pc with a BFG Geforce FX 5500 graphics card that it is already factory overclocked to 290 mhz core clock speed and 400 mhz memory clock speed.Would it be safe to overclock it more than they did Without overheating or unstabelizing it.I have tested it at 310 and it was stable but I am afraid I would overheat it because I do not know the core temperature so I took it back to 290mhz.What do you recomend doing?

for starters, do you even need to overclock it or are you being greedy? i've heard the FX seres are a bad overclock, the FX5700 dying even after 1mhz overclock according the PC Format.

if you do need to overclock, then go for it, following the logic that if you need to overclock then you need something better, and if it fries then it doesnt matter since you then have an excuse to go out and buy a newer, faster card
