hello everyone, I've just gotten DarkBasic (well really a friend gave it to me after he lost a game of mine) and I'm rather confused...

He's shown me the prpogram before and I even played with it once, but never had it do this before.

I was going through the tutorial, the 'Hello World' thing, and though it works and all, my screen flashes white maddly. I opened up the tank sample and it didn't do that...

I'm pretty sure this is a video problem, but at the same time I'm nto all too sure... I try to install the DirectX file from the cd, but it says it's not compatible with my system.

Btw, I'm not sure where this post belongs, so forgive me if this is in the wrong place.

Please to meet you all

This program is confusing

welcome, try downloading the latest updates for DB and you should stop the flashing, this normaly happens with unpatched DB under XP, also please note that although after installing the patch you get nags about a demo expiring it`s nothing to do with the patch, that will remain after the enhanced command set demo expires.

Windows: 32 bit extension/graphical shell for a 16bit patch to an 8bit OS originally coded for a 4bit CPU, written by a 2bit company that can't stand 1bit of competition, now available in 64bits.

if tank doesn't do this, post your entire code here, someone here might know what's causing it...

put it in is

(code)
paste your code here
(/code)

Replace the circular brackets with square brackets so it does this:

...maybe one day I'll finish a project

Me & TDK (at least) get this even after upgrading to 1.13.

Just use 'cls' at the start of your code (and after any 'set display mode' commands, if any).

No... The DirectX 7.0 installer is not compatible with Windows XP.

XP comes with at least DX 8.1, and you cannot install a lower version. DBMad try not to confuse everyone...

This also happened to me, but I found a way to fix it. You have to put CLS at the top of all your code, and the flashing stops
