Hi all. Before I say anything, I want you to know that I'm not pointing my finger at anyone, so please don't take any offense.

I don't know about you, but I'm fed up with the noobish posts on this forum, and especially on this board. Board after board, thread after thread, noobish post after noobish post. It's come to a point where you can't even read or help in a decent thread without it having a title like "Hey everyone, I've got a problem with my game, please come here and help me make it shoot a bullet!"...and then in the thread itself..."like I said". Come on! Why not put a title like "Bullet trouble", and then explain in the thread (with source code!!!).

Noobs out there, I know you get flamed day after day, and for good reason, but here are ways you can prevent it and clean up this forum.

1. Like I said, post descriptive and clean messages with short titles (you shouldn't make them more than 5 to 7 words long).

2. Include source code, and media if needed. You can also post a screenshot if you want to show the problem.

3. Check your spelling and your grammer. No one can understand: "I need to making teh shooting, for when you click like teh ememies do but without for the other gun." Read through your message after you have finished typing it to check for errors, and make sure you attached that exe or screenshot. Don't tell me, "It takes too long!". I have to read through this thread too, don't I? If you don't know English well, then ask someone who does to proof-read it before you post.

4. Say thank you! It makes a big difference, and makes these forums a nicer place to visit.

5. Don't make your username something like "Noob Dude" (if there is a "Noob Dude" out there, no offense...I've never seen one before). You've basically just told the entire forum that you are a noob. Not that there is a problem with being a noob, but people tend to flame such users. So make your name something else like "Joe", or "The Gamer". You'll get better results.

6. Don't fill up a board with rows and rows of threads! It proves A) that you are impatient B) that you are a noob and C) that you don't care about keeping this forum clean. If you have many questions to ask, put them all in one thread, or at least try to group related questions together.

7. Don't ask questions in someone elses thread where they are asking a question. That's rude.

8. Post in the right board! For crying out loud, it can't be that hard to read!

9. Don't make multiple threads for one topic! You only need to post once for people to see it. Also, only post your question in one board, and in the board it belongs in.

10. People hate spam. Don't tell them your website or forum unless there is a board for that. If you really want other people to know about it, put it in your signiture.

11. Quit the abbreviations! This is an English speaking forum!

12. Don't "yell" unless you need to. One "!" is enough, and don't use them to often, or type all of your words with Caps Lock on.

13. Don't fill your pages with smilies. It looks like a kid who couldn't help clicking the pretty buttons.

14. I don't know if you noticed, but there is a button called "EDIT", and it works too. Seriously, edit your post instead of making a new one!

That's all I can think of at the moment, although I am sure there are other countless noobish acts out there. Like I said, no offense. I'm just trying to get rid of a headache.

Hey, I'm not perfect either! I've done these things before myself, and I learned from them. So save yourself the embarrassment.

Mods, sorry I had to say this. I'm just sick of looking at 5 threads in a row made by the same guy.

Hope this helps clean the place out.

Not the case if your posts require approval, unfortunately...

Can I add one of my own? (if "no", I'll edit it out)

If you do need to post screenshots, don't make them huge, 640x480 is plenty big enough for showing problems. Some users don't like waiting for large pictures to display...

...maybe one day I'll finish a project

Yes, thank you SimSmall. Some users have dial up. It can be tedious.

nojbox87, everyone mkes mistakes, like you proved about me, but after a certain point, mistakes become the language of users.

I think I'll go use the "Edit" button to fix my mistakes.

I don't remember any. And I'm on this forum for over a year now.

Maybe here and there some small pieces of what you have to do. But never such a complete list.

no offence, but I dont aggree with this, yes sometimes all you need to do is press the edit button, but other times for example for an update on how well you are doing with your project you should double post (in my oppinion). I believe this because if someone just skimms over the thread, then they might read the first sentence of the last post to see if it's a new one, but if you add some important info at the bottom people wont see it.

P.s sorry if my grammar is a bit off...

Sorry I didn't clarify that. I meant don't make 2 threads for your game or question.

If you have to bump up a thread, it's ok to do it in the same thread. But I don't think you should make a new one.

Edit: I'll fix it.
