I have a project which I want to have a go at. Basically I want to make a directory website with both online games and downloadable games on, similar to miniclip.com and the other games sites. It would be a long running project, ie. I'd get it up and running and whenever I come accross a new free game I'd add it. I know it's nothing original but hey I want to give it a go.

I had my eye on the domain completelyfreegames.com which was free up until a few weeks ago when somebody registered it I knew I should have registered it before hand... Now I have to think up of a new domain name...though this is where I am stuck. I bet nearly every word in the english language is already taken and even typing random letters with a .com extension seems to bring up a website 90% of the time . I prefer to have a .com as opposed to .net or .co.uk etc.

I think I'm going to have to make up a word to use as my websites name...I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas for cool sounding 'words' which are available with a .com extension?

You need something short, easy to remember, like Newgrounds, Miniclip, Flashplayer, etc.
Maybe ieatgames.com? I thought of it because I was hungry. Something short and simple like that, doesn't even need to have the word "game" in it.

no it takes a short while before the domain is registered and I prefer to have some content on it before uploading it all anyway.
I've attached a screenshot of it so far...just need to stick the game genres down the left side and then work out some format for the text and screenshots which will be in the middle

Nice layout!

Would you accept games uploaded by users, or is it just going to be hand-coded, whatever games you found on the internet?

For that matter, would you have a user community kind of thing with it..? (Forums, something else, something else else, etc)

A game community site with development tutorials and stuff is always nice.

Yes, lots of games websites which already exist offer games for people to put on their sites, which is what I am planning to use. for downloadable games, I will ask for permission first. Don't think I'll be doing a forum however...
