So, I have Visual Studio 2003 Academic, and want to sell it. I looked on ebay, and it doesn't let me sell academic software, because I doen't work for a school. Does anyone know where I can sell it?

academic software has a cheaper lisence, but has restrictions, such as not being able to sell your programs, or not being able to use it outside of an educational establishment

I don't have a sig, live with it.

By using DBP, and making a 4 year long game, and releasing it, and mking money? Or getting your parents to spend cash on you?

I don't think you're allowed to sell academic software second hand.

When you buy 'student' software from a company you normally have to show proof that you are a student. Anybody on ebay can claim to be a student and you don't really have the means to verify whether he/she is. I imagine that's why ebay won't let you sell it.

Ebay lets you buy BACKUP'S of DVD/Games, which is similar to what you just wrote.

Ebay lets you sell it if I were a teacher faculty member, and the only restriction of academic software is only that you get it cheaper.

I'm not a teacher faculty member but I'd still sell it. Unless eBay has someway of checking (and I'm sure if they do they still wouldn't check every single person) then what harm can come of it. You get to sell something, the buyer gets what they want and ebay gets some money, it's a win win win situation.

I say sell it on ebay anyway.

Microsoft probably has EBay 'by the nipples' on this - like they'll have blinded them with legal jargon until they agreed to vito student licence sales.

At the end of the day, anyone could go buy a student licence on EBay and only have to pay a fraction of the real cost - then pretty soon students don't get as much of a discount, it's probably a good thing in the long run. Selling privately through the local paper might be a simpler idea.

Macromedia (to be taken over by adobe, fact fans) has a system set up were you can buy student editions of their software but to get an unlock key you have to send proof that you are a student to macromedia.

If you're based in the UK, micromart is a good magazine to advertise stuff in ([href]www.micromart.co.uk[/href])
