Hey there is a site claled MP3 rocks.com and they claim to be 100% legal and they charge you 1$ per month. My friend wants to know he thinks that this is a great site that he will have no problems with, I think otherwise. Were could I find some information about the legality of this site and if it is actually a legit site. Even if they do make you pay I highly doubt that they have the rights to distribute the music.

This? http://www.mp3rocks.net/

Hmm.. nah, no more legal than the other pay-to-access p2p networks out there.

There are lots of sites like this, and all they do is give you links to the current (FREE) p2p network programs and some rubiish text/html guides as to how to use them "legally".

Look: I 'll do it for free and save you $1 a month! Aren't i generous!

1: Go to http://www.limewire.com and download the free version.
2: Only download non-copyrighted material.
3: If you DO download copyrighted material, you won't get in trouble if you go into options and turn off the sharing/upload modes.

Personally I think "3" is a load of bullsh*t. You should NOT download copyrighted material and it IS illegal, regardless of whether or not you then share it with other people.

Mp3 pirating is nearly killing the music industry. Remember how bad things got in the '80s with the great "taping things of the radio" crisis

A quote from Tommy Tiernan if I'm not mistaken

Shut the bedroom door, turn on the radio, press Record on the tape recorder...AND DON'T MOVE!

The music industry made $1 billion from legal downloaded music - so by their standards they're losing loads of money!

I used to shove my radio, and my speccy tape recorder under the bed. Mainly because my dad is a loud git who used to stomp around the house talking loudly. Heh, I have a top copy of "Space Truckin" (class song no?) which is almost perfect apart from a bit in the middle where my dad demanded I come to the table this "INSTANT!!!!". Drat. And trying to learn the words from a fuzzy Spitting Image song was hell. As was trying to avoid the adverts and chatter from the DJs.

Cheers

I am 99% probably lying in bed right now... so don't blame me for crappy typing

lol @ blanky - absolute class

Yeah I used to use a rubbish little square tape player and a huge old valve radio when I was a little kid in the ghetto lol Once I got a bit older though I saved up my money and bought a all in one style ghetto blaster which could tape from the radio without picking u other noise! Quality stuff lol
