Been looking into building a HTPC (home theater pc), checking out what hardware and configurations. Now to run it all, I was going to create custom software to control the navigation easily around the OS, WinXP MCE. Friend told me about myth tv, anyone ever used it? Looked around the site, and honestly I\'m quite impressed. There was another piece of software I found last night that ran on XP, but I can\'t remember what it was called.

I've used MythTV before, it was murder to set up (for some stupid reason you need a MySQL server running in localhost). Once I got it to work, it did its job.

I installed myth tv using the knoppix package he had setup. (installs mysql and everything else for ya) The software sounded good, but it locked up more frequently than a Win95 machine.

I hear MythTV is the best for something like that. I also hear that it doesn't allow the use of a mouse, so you cant use a touch screen or use a trackball rather than a mouse

Medio looks very nice.

myth tv does allow a mouse, but it wasn't visible half the time even though you could click around with it.
