Hi

Today when I got home and turned on my computer, I noticed something: My keyboard didn't work! We're talking rather expensive Logitech stuff here. I went to my parents office to "loan" their keyboard, which is the exact same model as mine. I plugged it into my PC, and it was working 100%. Okay, it must be something with my keyboard then, I thought. I plugged mine back in, just to check... something... and I found out that the special "Logitech buttons"(like, media buttons) were working okay, but not the ordinary buttons! This problem seems so strange and illogical(is that the correct word?) that I can't think of any ways to solve it, except buying a new keyboard(which I don't want to do).

I've tried to contact Logitech's customer support, but I can't find any E-mail addresses that seem to be the right one. So can anyone help me with this problem?

For now, I'll have to use my laptop.

Thanks

klu 007

Good idea, but for some reason I don't think my parents would let me take theirs...

It would be kinda funny...

"Hey mum - my keyboard broke!!"
"Try ours then dear..."
"Ok - yours works.... Hmmm... Err.. Mum... My keyboards working again, but now yours is broke... Strangely in exactly the same way!!! Oh, and yours has developed a funny coffee stain over the volume control wheel too..."
"HUH??!"
"Yeah - its wierd... Cos my one used to have a stain there too..."

replace your batteries perhaps its something as simple as that.
otherwise reinstall the drivers.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself 

I have tried changing the batteries(it was one of the first things I did), and that didn't help. I'll connect another keyboard and try and reinstall drivers(if I can find the right ones). Thanks for the help.

And to everyone but indi : thanks for the incredibly serious answers!

Again, you are assuming he mentioned it to his parents.

Yeah, thats probably the best advice. I have had this problem many times with devices, that basically work fine in another USB port. Annoying.

It is USB, but I'm using a transformer that transforms it a an ordinary keyboard plug. I can try changing the plugs.

Nah, then I none of the buttons work, not even the Logitech-media ones. I go and loan my parents keyboard and reinstall all the drivers I might find on the Logitech CD.

Now I've checked the CD, and the only things on there was Logitech MouseWare and MUSICMATCH or something. None of those has something to do with keyboard drivers, I guess. And that was the only CD I got with the Keyboard+mouse.

Okay, problem solved! I finally reached Logitech's customer support, and they could help getting things working again. All I needed to do was to install SetPoint and press Ctrl+Alt+F12 and then Esc, and things were working again! Thanks for the help guys.

ahh the keyboard was in secure mode but the drivers weren't (or vice versa)... Wonder how that happened... Also interesting that it seems the special keys are not encrypted in that case....
