We are extremely pound to announce IndiePath.com as a sponsor of Underware Designs game making competition. IndiePath have kindly offered a full license of their lgLoader applications plus a 1/2 day consultation.

Weren't aware of this competition ? - Don't worry there's still more than three weeks until the submission deadline. So download PlayBasic and get cracking !

lgLoader

igLoader is a cross browser plugin that allows virtually any windows based software to be delivered and operated within the browser window. igLoader is unique in its implementation and simplicity; igLoader is not based on ActiveX technology and, as such, is compatible with browsers such as Firefox and Internet Explorer. igLoader is secure; only licensed software will be installed and launched by the plugin.

Traditionally, browser based software has been developed using technologies such as Java or Flash. However, it is often expensive and time consuming to port an existing application; in a lot of cases the additional development is not financially viable. With igLoader, software can be made Browser Ready in a matter of hours, not days OR months!

No more 'Click>Download>Click>Install>Click>Play' - once the plugin is installed you can deliver content by simply serving HTML pages.

Early adopters are utilising the technology for delivery of computer video games, however the software is not limited to games and does deliver complete applications. Indeed applications that embed DRM and payment solutions can utilise igLoader as the software delivery mechanism, when products are activated they can then made available to the user to launch from the desktop rather than launching within the browser.

A free Development Edition is available to 'Ready' and 'Test' applications, to read more and to download the Development Edition visit http://www.igloader.com

'Retro Innovation' - Two Weeks Remaining

Yes the count down until submission has officially begun. Things are definitely starting to heat up with a few nerves showing. The screens shots we've seen so far, certainly indicating just how much hard world people are investing in this compo. And with a first prize valued at over $500 (US) who wouldn't !

There's still time though, so maybe you cause a shake up with that simple late entry !

So your having problems with PlayBasic trial ??

If you've been messing around with current PlayBasic trail and for reason it expired early. We've just issued a new demo patch that should fix the problem for those who've been affected.

The patch will also restore your trial period back to 60 days. If you have any problems (with PB1.17) please let us know !

With the submission deadline rapidly approaching, we're now happy to accept your completed game submissions.

Remember, the competition closes 12 Midnight on 25th, Feb, 2006. So don't be late !

What to call your Entry

Please make sure your entry is easily identifiable from the filename. Using the following format.

DeveloperName_GameName_Version.zip

So if I was making a Rygar clone for submission, it'd be called

Can I Submit more than one version ?

Yes, just make sure that if you submit successive versions, that the newer versions use a higher version number in their filename. We will evaluate the newest version received prior to the submission deadline.

Before You Submit - Have you created your ReadMe.txt for the judges ?

To help you and us out, we've created a template for the ReadMe.txt file. Please fill it out and include it in your submission archive.

Official Retro Innovation Entry round Up

Well, it's finally over, and the two months of frantic slaving over a hot keyboard (for competitors ) has resulted in some wonderful games for UnderwareDesign.com's PlayBasic Retro innovation competition.

At the time of writing we've officially had four successful entries (listed bellow). While there's a few still outstanding, that haven't been able to met the deadline. Hopefully, they'll still make a submission though. We would hate for their hard work to be wasted!
