Is anyone here a fan of the Silent Hill games? Well, if you are you probably already know about the movie adaptation... and it's looking to be the first decent one! The trailer is available here: http://www.sonypictures.com/movies/silenthill/site/?dl=trailer, and it's looking really good!

So, what do you guys think of it? The release date is April 21st, and I'll be securing a ticket for opening day. Anyway, it definetely looks better than the Resident Evil movies... It also looks like it'll be pretty faithful to the plot, with the exception that the main character is a woman

EDIT: One thing I did forget to say was that there are a few differences, such as the fact that the main character's spouse is still alive unlike the game, and there are of course other differences--that's just one that came to mind.

You're right, it does look a lot like the game in many parts, and I seriously have no idea why they made it a woman, although it could have been to strengthen the idea of a maternal bond. I can't wait... oh, and did you recognise the music at the very end of the trailer?

Silent Hill 3 had a woman, and that was the most successful of the sieries. Plus, if it was a man, you can't exactly see a shwartzenegger-esque he-man wetting his pants and running away, and call it a horror film.

It's been a while since I played, but I think it was only 3 that had a woman (Heather, who if I remember correctly was the daughter of Harry Mason, the first main character); SH2 had James Sunderland, obviously a man.

SH4 definetely wasn't my favourite in the series, but I still don't get why everyone hates it so much... SH2 has to be my favourite though, closely followed by three.

And Joel, did I seriously just see you waste three words blatently saying that you hate Silent Hill? Well, if you're seriously going to tell me there will be better game-film adaptations, all I could do is laugh in your face.

I've personally always liked RE better (Until RE4, which departed way to much from the old formula to me), but SH has always been a close second; the psychological horror of it works so well, it's ingenious.

Eternal Darkness was great, but I was never really "scared" in it, something I can't really say about SH, or even RE.

well you stick to your adventures of scooby doo, and sponge bob square pants, and leave the scary hard riddle games to the big boys.

There already has been a Super Mario Bros movie. Was alright, nothing special, though. Liked the ending.

What, nobody wants to make a Tetris and/or Puzzle Bobble movie? What's this world coming to?

Because everyone is highly anticipating Uwe Boll's Meteos. It's gonna be great.

Anyways I really don't think it looks that good, I'm still holding out with hope that Tekken and DOA will be good films. And if Guillermo Del Toro does direct Halo then it will have to kick ass.

The Silent Hill film will be absolutely awful, it will be the worst film ever. It's not worth the paper the script was written on. I hope it vanishes into nothingness.
There, now that's got rid of any unnecessary hype there's no way I can be disappointed when the film's released.

Seriously though, looks good and looks like you don't have to have played the game to enjoy it (which is good, because I haven't).

Ofcourse it's only a short trailer, a trailer designed to make the film look good.

The reason it will be bad is because of Meteos the movie. I hear Vince Vaughn will be playing the planet Meteos. <_< >_> o_O

How about an 8 Mile-inspired Parappa the Rapper? Kinda like Get Rich Or Die Tryin' except it will actually make an attempt at being good, and it will be full of blue skies.

Too true. Anyone remember the RE:Apocalypse trailer? I actually thought it could be worth paying money to see!

I still stand by my belief that it'll be better than any other game movie created; it's really the first one to look faithful and good at the same time, unlike the others. I have no doubt that the DOA movie will be utter crap though, let alone Tekken. I mean, SH has a fleshed out plot with a clear story that really holds the player/viewer, as opposed to DOA or Tekken, which certainly don't rely on their plots.
