Imagine your house is on fire or something like that and you had to save 3 game CDs that you currently own. Which 3 would you go for and why? Remember, you'll only have 3 to save (only 3).

I'd let them burn. I mean, what's the point? If you're gonna be stupid enough to let your base unit burn and take a few CDs instead, you might as well run into the fire yourself and rid the world of another dunce.

If I had the opportunity to save anything, it wouldn't be a meaningless possession that could easily be replaced. It would be the love of my life... ie: The contents of my hard disk !

i would drag my pc outside with my monitors , nothing else is really valuable here, but it really depends how serious the fire was, if it was like just the upstairs on fire id try to get as much as i can , if theres like 10 gas canisters and a fire right next to it then thats another story as id have to run to the fridge to put some bacon out 1st.

3 game cds? pfft. I don't have three game cds All I play is gunz and soldat. If I had to grab three things, on the other hand...

-Laptop
-Backup cd of my music (thinking about it, I really oughta stash a few of those in various other places in case the house burned down while I was gone :S)
and.. hmm.. can't think of anything else, so I'd probally try to fit one of my parent's instruments through the window Would go for the harpsichord first, as it's lighter, certainly wouldn't want to try tossing a piano out the door.

Having a laugh. It would be my laptop, iPod, and phone. Failing that it would be my 300gb portable drive. Lose all of them and I may as well end it all now. Sort of. Couple of £20 games can fry with no worries. That and the insurance will cover it, and then some.

Cheers

Yeah, but if you booted the cat (should do anyway) through a window then surely the dogs would follow?

3 game cds

Pirates! (Just got it today and I'm hooked)
Half Life 1 (Half Life 2 is just shoddy)
DBP (Hopefully, if my house burnt down I'd have nothing to distract me and would finally finish a project).

3 other things

iBook ('nuff said)
2 Cats (see above)

Why does it feel like I'm tempting fate by posting this.

and won't change my sig until I get off my oversized behind and finish a project.

Bwahahahaha! It's nice to know the burning down of your house and loss of all your worldly posessions isn't a distraction from game development!

Just noticed the title of this thread has "OFF TOPIC" in it. Erm, have you seen the other topic titles? At least this one is linked to computer games etc. Probably more "ON TOPIC" than most threads I've seen in a long time here

all my game cd's are in a multi cd holder thing so i could just grab that, although i'd just rip out my hdd as the insurance could cover buying new cd's my hdd has hours of work on it.
however but i'd most likey just get out the house, i mean seriously.. who worries about a few games when the house is burning down.

So would you take out everything inside your case before leaving the fire, or would you take them out after and then throw them back into the fire?

I was joking because you said "just your case", which gives the impression that you wouldn't take what's inside it.

I'd just grab my new computer. Screw the CDs. I've got HL2 on Steam, Painkiller's in the cd drive, warcraft 3 in the the dvd drive, and Guild Wars is installed to the hard drive.

I wouldn't have time to save any CD's. It would be humans, 4 cats, 1 dog, 1 hampster, 4 fish, 2 frogs... ok forget the fish and frogs... computers next. Save the computer... save Darkbasic and my projects all at once.

well i just put the cds cause thats what he asked, though on topic of what I would do instead of teh cd's, I'd rip off my shirt and my incredible pirate chest would douse the flames with my awesomeness. Then heather locklear would be all like "Oh thank you for saving me!". And I would laugh at the high school children who did not survive.

Grab my laptop, my new 37" LCD TV (it's pretty light), and my Nintendo DS. Everything else can burn.

Thanks

Also, sorry if I didn't make this clear earlier, but what I meant was if you had to save 3 games (assume that all your personal important stuff has already been saved or you're carrying it). I didn't mean you can only save the games and not anything else. I meant you can save any important stuff (documents, passport etc...) but only 3 games.

Sorry about that

Also forgot my choices. Deus Ex, Gabriel Knight 3, Outcast. Deus Ex because it's the best I've seen in a long time. GK3 because I love the game (for some inexplicable reason, I love the story so much). Outcast because I don't want my brother whining that I didn't get anything he liked. Besides, all my other games are already in stock so I can buy them again maybe even half off

If i had to save 3 games? Panzer Dragoon Saga, Nights and Xmas Nights

If I had to save 3 of anything, I'd chose my eldest son, my youngest daughter and one of the twins.

(for those who can't tell, thats a editted ricky gervais joke I don't have twins )

Well... what about everybody else? If you had to choose just 3 games to save from your fire raging house (assuming all the important stuff's already taken), what would you choose and why?
