I really enjoyed the doom movie, although most of it didn't appear the game. But then the game has hardly any story. I can see where they came up with the monster idea as in the original's story they mention it starts with cannibalistic zombie type humanoids and then moves to monsters. I really liked the idea of that pinky guy which at the end really matches the guy's name. I thought it was great!

Gah, it was horrid. The concepts they used were so unreal:/. Even for a movie, it got all religious, and they didnt feature "demons" just random crap story plot features.

I got my money's worth though I thought it was one of those sit back don't think just enjoy

Yeah I love the part when:

The wretched Cineworld people never showed it here - have to see whether the second cinema people will be showing it though, as I would like to see it...

It was aweful imo. What sounds better, a genetic experiment that gave birth to monsters with detachable tongues or portal to hell got opened accidently through experimenting with teleportation technology?

I just dont know how they could have screwed it up, all that was needed was lots of monsters, lots of gore, one huge great mega demon and hell. It had NONE of that. It was just another poor resident evil/Matrix rip off.

It might have been worth it if: (spoilers)

I watched it, but I thought it sucked. The story was totally different from the game, hell wasen't even mentioned. The monsters were caused by an extra chromosome or something, and the people died too easily. Except, of course the people who you knew wouldn't, which you could work out within 2 minutes of watching the film.

But, I suppose it's worth seeing once.

Sorry I thought it was kinda rubbish, except the first person scenes. All videogame movies are poor, except Super Mario Bros the Movie (which was utterly, super poor)

I would love to see a full-length film in theatres acted out with in-game characters like Red vs Blue etc. Who needs to cast wrestlers as leading roles?

I agree Presumably it won't be too long before in game graphics are good enough to make a cinema quality film

The SF Anime wasn't too bad - and the Dargon's Lair & Space Ace Games were beautifully anaimated and quite watchable without playing, Don Bluth has made some great animated films (well animation is good, not necessarily plot)

I have to disagree with the "all video game movies are poor" statement. Mortal Kombat was a pretty cool movies (maybe I remember it through rose-tinted glasses though).

And don't forget the upcoming Tetris and/or Puzzle Bobble movies that are in the works. They will rock.

The FPS scenes were rubbish, I was squirming down in my seat with embarresment :S. They were gimmicky, badly done and simply looked horrible. I personally hated them with a passion.

Jeku; most video game movies are poor, although I'm easily looking forward to Silent Hill.

Haven't seen Doom, but I liked the Resident Evil movies, and Tomb Raider 1st movie. So they are not all bad.

the best movie will be silent hill.

doom 3 is a movie created by a man never played the game and with too little time making someting he though would be cool but never realized he was the only one to think it, and therefore his utterly quality of his imagination though of a new story and new characters. the movie shouldn't even be called Doom. it was major downhill for me.

the movie and the game have absolutely nothing in comment, except for the name.

I agree with Lukas W. But I still thought it was good for a movie it just should have been called something else.

I think he's just the star, not the director.

I liked the movie, the best part IMO being the first-person-view scene. The part I disliked the most was the hand-to-hand fight right afterwards. (Just shoot the guy and get it over with!)

......

That is such a load of b******t. Doom 3 (the game) had a terrific story! But I agree with Jiffy, Silent Hill is probably going to keep to the story. Unlike any of the other video game films i've seen. (i'm looking at YOU, Resident Evil!)

Um, yah, it was original hundreds of years ago when people first fathomed hell spawning. Now it's just a tired cliche--- an excuse for game content.
