Look at this video. Except the shadows, the landscape detail is AWFUL! If you ask me, many next gen console producers must be having a LAUGH!

The next-gen systems definatly are not what was the craze of the original xbox/ps2. Rather disapointing.

The graphics are nice, but seem to get lazy around places, some of the foilage looks rushed (haha Sonic Rush sorry...) and looks like it was put to be low poly, but being a new gen game that shouldn't be necessary

I am not going to download anything at 4kbs. That said, who the hell IS downloading to get the server so slow?

If THAT is a true in game scene. Then this whole game is truely crap. Not only does looking at it give me a head ache, but the drastic changes in quality, wtf?

The Sonic dude is classic, yet everything else is upped a little. Light in

Is once again a classic example of light...

So to me, it looks like a horrible attempt to preserve the classic sonic, With his low color palette, with some random bizzard uses of modern tech. The result. Whatever this is.

Graphics look OK to me. If the game-play is good I'm not disappointed.

DC emulator code size: 2.97B, 232,320 lines... yes, that went down. 15% done.

I think it looks OK, but gamewise I prefer the good old 2D versions. This is why 2D will never die out. Sonic 1 2D is my favourite version. One of my favourite games of all time.

Remember you're not looking at a finished game. We programmers should all know how bad games look when we're still working on them vs the finished version of the game.

This also appears to be a video recording of a big screen (the heads of people are at the bottom)... the quality of the original may have been lost because of that... it wasn't recorded directly from the PS3.

I like it though... i'm a diehard Playstation guy.

You can't judge the next-gen consoles on pre-release videos, or even many of the original games for those systems. The true potential of these machines will ony be reached a few years down the line. Look at the difference between some of the first PS2 games and some of the latest ones.

Having said that, I played an Xbox 360 in Game the other day I and I was fairly unimpressed by it.

ok you guys do realise that this is a VERY early tech demo?

That video looked better than what I was expecting from the screen shots i'd seen so far, and certainly along the same lines as other xbox360 and ps3 games, low poly models with nice effects, shaders and lighting.

You know the guys in doom 3 have perfectly rounded noses and eyes but stupid pointy kryten-like heads? Its because to run shaders with that detail the models have to be very low poly, and most of the "details" that you see are actually generated by shaders and effects, not polys.

I've been very dissapointed with all the 360 and ps3 genuine in game graphics, because essentially, all they really are is graphics like you can get today, in a higher resolution with fancy (and sometimes ugly and overused) shaders applied. I'm sure there'll be some great games for the systems, its just not the hardware leap that we saw from say, snes/md to psx/saturn/n64 to dreamcast/ps2/xbox/gc, thats to be expected really, theres only so far current technology can pregress unless it totally re-invents itself.

The scenery looks OK to me, but the character animation is substantially below many freeware titles, infact I think it shows up just how creatively challenged some game studios are when they cannot use real world techniques such as motion capturing... The animation is so bad i'd actually laugh if I saw a price tag on the game.

lol well its true.

I didn't think the character animation was that bad, but I agree that no proper 3d title has got the proper "sonic" run and movement from the 2d games yet.
