ok.im having trouble with something.how would you make an 2d animation out of one single picture that has all the frames printed out in lines.say like a fire sheet for example,it would have the first frame at the top left corner, then would move right the the next corner, then the next frame would be printed under the first one in the left corner.

oh , well you need to grab bitmaps from all that surfaces in db

i don`t know the command though , but you need to write the x and y of each let`s say "frame" on that one single picture , and when they are all taken as bitmap or image , just make a sprite , and make a change number for image to make the sprite animation.

sorry for couldn`t be helpfull more , but this place is crawling with helpfull db users that will most surely help you VERY soon ..

If the image fits in the screen:

(not tested)

And to animate a sprite, simply increase a var called AnimFrame:

(not tested)

I prefer just to use an art package, and grab them all as individual images. Use a grid.

But:

"how would you make an 2d animation out of one single picture that has all the frames printed out in lines using just DB"

if you are looking for a good 2d animation program, download graphics gale (free) at humanbalance.net

(the above site is in japanese, but when you click through to graphics gale, it does give you an option for english)

there is a free version, a 30 day limit on a free full version or the full version for only 2000 yen.

i'm using graphics gale for animations in a cartoon series i'm making.
