I just recently saw the proformance and am in aww of the spectical. Granted, many of you are in the UK so I don't know if you can see it. But it is truely aww inspireing.

Wicked takes the original story of "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and completly turns it around, making the Wizard a cold heartless man, while the Wicked Witch of the West turns into the main heroine. Even The Witch of the South gets a turn around as a self centered ego maniac, although she befriends Elfaba half way though, she abandons her once more in favor of power, and stature. I truely enjoied this proformace, and would love to go a thousand times over.

That description isn't entirely accurate, from what I gather, the musical takes place a long time before 'The Wizard of Oz' and shows how the two witches become the Wicked Witch and Good Witch. You make it sound as if it's the Wizard of Oz, just with different personalities for each of the characters.

Actually it starts before the Wonderful Wizard of Oz, but it collides with it in the end. And for the most part, the personallitys are completly turned around. It is hard to explain without ending up with a complete spoiler of the Play / Musical... If you want a spoiler, use Wikopedia, someone thought it would be a bright idea to post every act and scene.

I've seen a pirated video of the original broadway cast. My friend had it (think she got it from some other guy who got it from some other guy...). I also own the soundtrack. Great music. The first half is like how they became the different witches, the second half is the "what you don't see" of "The Wizard of Oz".

The story sounds good, but the music on the site is no where near as good as The Wizard Of Oz.

LoL...
Follow the yellow brick road, Follow the yellow brick road, lada lada lada lada. Strange, that is all I can remeber from that film. But the WWoO is more childish, what is Dorthy but a little girl anyways? Wicked is darker and more dramatic, the book, I've heard, is even darker, and includes more Racial terms. It all depends on your style. But truely, I wince at the songs of many Disney Movies, so I am biased twords children songs.
