Run it using the source from DB or download it here:

ftp://ftp.darkbasic.com/demos/db_tankdemo_v2.zip

Please post 2 results after you run it:

1) Is the smoke white or black?

2) Does the fire from the enemy tank have a lot of black in it?

Also, post the type of graphics card you have, CPU, and Windows version.

The "correct" results are that the smoke is supposed to be white and the fire from the enemy tank shouldn't show any black - it should be all red.

Here's the original thread I started with some screenshots of "incorrect" results:

Thanks,

Ed

Also, it would be nice if someone who really understands how the tank2 demo code actually works could confirm what the correct results are supposed to be. For all I know, there could be some hardware feature detection going on that makes it work differently on certain graphics cards.

Thanks,

Ed

I've read this thread and the other one (the red folder picture attracted me) and I must say it's happened to me before in a different way. (I'm referring to Sheep, Dog 'n' Wolf PC Edition). Ran on Windows 2000 (XP untested), only the textures show up. Everything else, turns purple on my desktop machine, and black and flashing on my other laptop (i've got 2). So i think it's just DB somehow colours it in instead of making it into a texture (which makes sense), and adds transparency and lightweight ghosting (i think).

How to fix it, how to fix it? Reformat your hard drive and install Win. 98 is one way.

petrat it is SUPPOSE to be white... the bitmap and the ingame smoke. The fire is also suppose to looke like real fire.

This is in NO WAY a Windows XP problem as i've run this on WinME, Win2000, WinXP Pro, Win .Net Pro -- all have returned the same results on 5 different machines.
If there is a true problem with it then it is graphics card based, which is it more than likely.

Well I played the one I had in the Tank 2.0 folder of the DBB folder and it was black. I played the uploaded one and it was white in that. i think its meant to be black.
Anyway, I have the black smoke in my folder of the Tank 2.0 demo. what color is it in yours Raven?
