From what I've seen they're just pretty patterns that have some nice mathematical properties.
My favourite is the one where you take a triangle, and draw a smaller triangle on each side. Then do the same for each side of the new shape. And again. And again.
You can mathematically prove the area of the shape is a contant as the number of triangles approaches infinity (its the sum to infinity of a geometric series).
Can you draw them in dbp? Of course. Just need to find out how they're drawn then use the line / dot / ink commands.
