It's an old game on Amiga, Atari ST and PC, and on Genesis and Super Nes.
It's a sport came from the future...

never heard of the original but it looks very good, nice player models, to make it better i think the crowd could use slightly more polys like make rows of plains with people on, and a higher res image for them, other than that it looks great

Halowed are the ori.

Sweet jumping baby jesus that looks damn good !
Amazing progress for a few days work. How long have you been coding? as I can't quite belive your the newbie that your joined date states you to be!
Would love to be able to get an idea of the game play so will look forward to this being released !
Yep the crowd does need some work but looking at the artistic skill your probably handling that already.
Other than that the radar looks clean and the time and score tracker are very nice.
Keep up the cracking work, I'm putting mailback on this one!

Speedball 2 was the mutts. One of the best sports games ever made in my opinion. Are you gonna keep the medbots and violence in it? I see you have the wall powerups already. How about that vicious red ball powerup?

Yo!
So I have to answer some questions.
First, I'm not really a newbie. I've got Dark Basic pro since one year, but I never used it to make a real video game, juste some applications and little softwares fot myself. But when I was younger, I used to program with Amos on amiga. It was great but this old good Amiga wasn't so fast and powerful than our computers.
Talking about Ironball.
I know for the crowd texture, but for me the first goal is to make this game good, and after only I'll enhance this
I was a great fan of Speedball 2, always on my old Amiga, and I'll keep all that made this game great : violence, blood, etc... Whitout forget "Ice creeeeammmm!!!"
And yes, it will be the Iron red ball, the one who hurts players of the opposite team.
Bue I'll make some little changes. But the spirit of the original game will be preserved.
I'll post as regulary as possible to give news about this advancement.

Hi all!
Here is a new picture of the introduction of a Ironball game.
Each team has players who have some differents faces, names, skills, etc...

I've decided to use no realistics faces for this game, because of the arcade side of it. It isn't a cartoon style too.

So, what's up in my project ? It's still on the way, but I'll only post a new preview in a few days to not polluate this post by new versions without real advancement.
Be patient, it's coming soon...

Yo all!
here is a new WIP exe.
http://www.tachyonnemo.fr/IB.zip

Be careful : it's just to show you at what point the project is.
Some explanations of what you can do in this demo :
* Press Space during the introduction when the teams players are presented on the screen

* When the ball thrower is at the vertical between the two captains, you will show two powers indicator. Hit quickly Space or joystick button A to up your energy(the left one). The other team, controled by the PC, will up his energy alone.

* A this point, the player who has got the most energy will win the ball, but at this point of the projetc, you'll win the ball at all time.

* Then, you can control the player by the keyboard keys(left, up, etc...) or a joystick and you can throw ball by spacebar or button A.
* You can catch ball by going on it.

As I said before, there is a lot of things that are not complete.

Enjoy

Yo!
I'm happy to show you a first demo of Ironball. This demo is only for one one one game.
here are the commands :
Player 1 : joystick(not analogic), button A to shot or to takle a defenser, button B to change player.

Player 2 : keyarrows to move, space to shot or takle a defenser, control key to change player.

At the beginning of the game, presse space bar during the presentations of the two teams to start the game.

At each start of period, or after a goal, presse A or Space the more quickly to take control of the ball.

You can light the stars on the side of the arena by throwing ball on it. Your team stars are on the opposite side. When you light 5 stars of the same side, your'll got 5 points and the stars turn light off.
You can light off stars from the other player by throwing the ball on a star lighted by him.
To score, throw the ball in the opposite goal. You have to throw it and not just running with the balle in the goal. You'll got 10 points and two replays will show you your action.

There is still a lot of bugs, a lot of work to do(some graphics, animations and sound effects) but this version's working good.

I've to find a way to use two joysticks, because playing with the keyboard is not very fun, not at all...

Thanx for all comments about this demo

Yo all
here is a new exe for the previous demo.
In this new exe, I've fixed a lot of bugs, and there is the possibility of playing against the PC with a joystick or the keyboard, but there is not a real AI for the moment.
It's just for a test.

Did you copy-paste the same face and deform and re color parts of it?

Other than that, good job!

Yo!
For the faces of the players, I use 3ds max. I've made a character face, and then I've deformed this one to others faces. 've paint too each faces in black for black player. A part of the my game cut each head in three parts and each player has some characteristics lke the number of the eyes, the number of the noise and the number of the moutch. There are some others characteristics like hair, etc... But my first goal was not to spend a lot of time of making a thousands of different faces. I've just wanted to give a little touch in my game by showing different kind of heads...
