Well I was sitting in class the other day when my professor mentioned something about one of the research departments developing "3D" computer chips. Which essentially means instead of having the standard 0/1 computer interaction, there would be a third dimension. Every piece connects to many more to transfer information.

This got me thinking...is this not exactly how the human brain works more or less? I have been trying to dig up some more info on the web but all I can find is info about photonic 3d chips. Just wondering if anyone else knew where I could pick up some more information about these 3D chips, or if anyone had some more information on the subject.

Thank you.

Found this....

http://news.com.com/IBM+bakes+new+3D+circuit+design/2100-1001_3-965263.html

It's not how the human brain works, but is closer to how it is built.

If you added another number to the binary code, so it would be 0,1,2 (wouldn't be called binary anymore then ) It would considerably slow down the thinking.

Thanks for the link Pincho, but I was under the impression it was a bit different, a little more complex, maybe im just misinformed. Sin, im sure it would slow down thinking, but there are probably ways to counter it, just the same. Anyway thanks for the help I think I will continue to look a bit more on the subject.

The future of computing are real brains.

Here's an article about a piece of a rat brain could fly a simulated F-22 fighter jet:

Of course this totally destroys the Air Forces concept that pilots have to have "the right stuff"... all they need is a little rat brain to fly.

Should have used Pigeon brains. Much better pilots, or how about eagles? Flying home, plane spots a field mouse, and swoosh!!! Your jet scoops up a vermin!!!
