Hey Drew, on the thing about the voice actors, I personally think the quality shows through well in the proggy ... BUT, even though I know it's a pain in the arse, I'm pretty sure you could recruit amateurs to do a similar quality job. So I think your decision to not go with paid voice actors in the future is probably not a bad one at all.
You could hold auditions on the forum!
That could be fun actually. Post a line or two and get people to record them saying them. That way you can judge the quality of their voice acting and recording hardware and then pick from a bunch of people. Offer them the usual shizzle of name in the credits, and if you're generous, a percentage of takings, or small fee upon sale. I'm sure most of us would do if for free though as, as much as those guys may charge, it's gotta be a fairly piss easy job (cheeky bastards).
Anyway, not to slag off your choice for the game, cos like I said, the quality showed through and it was cool, BUT, I reckon there are other possibilities. You might have to wade through the voices of some complete retards to find the gems, but it could still be done.
Edit: Obviously I'm not suggesting this for D&C now. Just for future projects.
