that's a lie, i love iTunes, i'm just so SICK of these STUPID updates, and they NAG you to download them! and I say "NO" because i use a plugin called "MultiPlugin", and EVERY TIME iTunes updates, i have to wait forever for a new version of the MultiPlugin. Now my Media Buttons on my keyboard are completely useless to change my songs WHICH i use ALL THE TIME. ugh! So i got sick of the nags, and clicked INSTALL. Anyway, moral of this story, turn of auto updates when you don't want them...

*checks if there is an autoupdate checkbox...*

hehe, anyway, so i uninstalled meh plugin, and reinstalled it, and it works yay

i just don't understand why Apple just doesn't include a feature to let itunes be controled by the media keys anyway... so dumb...

anyone tried Songbird yet? I'm about to download it and give it a shot. Though neither songbird nor iTunes compares to CCAMP!

Songbird sucks... I'm sorry, but it does, i was VERY excited to see it, then i tried it, yuck. it's ugly and just about as bloated as WMP

what we really need is a media player like Winamp, to have a bunch of plugins. I really really like the iTunes UI though, it's really nice. So have a mini player like winamp's, and then a taskbar control like iTunes and WMP. Then have the iTunes music store and iPod stuff, plugins.

I don't want the store, i don't want the iPod stuff, i just want the UI

The only good thing about iTunes is it fades each song into the other--- nice touch

Other than that it offers nothing more than Winamp has had for years.

Well, I've just tried Songbird, and I don't like it. Besides locking up the first time I ran it, it's slow. Wow, same problems as firefox. That's what happens when you build on broken technology.

If winamp was stable for me, it'd be nice. Its got simple functionality in a condensed space. However, I have over 30k songs and iTunes just organizes my data better in a more easily navigated manner.

I take it you've not seen an Apple Mac keyboard. There are no media buttons. 16 functions keys and volume control, even an eject key, but no media buttons.

WinAmp has never been a problem for me - perfectly stable. It also crossfades songs, although its a feature I turn off as I hate it. It sits happily in the corner doing what it does best - blasting out high quality music

It also works with media keys, assuming windows doesn't get its knickers in a twist when you have more than one media app open at once.

I dont like iTunes - its far too big for something that pretty much just plays music.

And as for plugins - have you even looked at the WinAmp plugnis section? There are thousands!! I even had one that used my Hauppage WinTV Remote to control WinAmp! I also hade one which allowed me to change the music over a LAN using a remote on another machine. This was usefull as it allowed two machines to sync up the same song and play it from two locations. Nothing is worse than working at home and when you leave the room you can hear the music anymore. Cranking it to 150dB is not an option where I live, so its nice to have multiple sources at normal volume

I tend to only update on the major ones, like 5,6, and next time 7. But is pretty kewl, I don't use plugins though, so what does mulitplugin do?
