Hi,

I currently own DBPro and FPSC. I think that FPSC is limited, and DBP has awesome features but is not as good as it could be. I am thinking of getting another game programming langauge. I have a few packages that I have in mind:

Torque Game Engine
Torque Shader Engine
3D Game Studio Commercial
3D Game Studio Professional
LAWMAKER Game Engine

Which one of these would be the best? I like the scripting aspects of all of them. They all use a C++ type language and have a drag and drop interface to place entities throughout the world. My question really is which one would be the most reliable. I have looked at 3DGS and it looks like it is a good product to get started with, but I hear that it is limited. TSE and TGE look great, but I have tried them out and they seem complicated for starters. LAWMAKER Game Engine seems to have all that I need, but I really am not sure if this has been used by others. What do you think?

Hah! Updated my sig now!

Doesn't matter if you're the proud owner of a leaked Unreal 3 engine - it doesn't do anything if you don't have the skills to use it.

Well I think I do. Besides, I have programmed with C/C++ before and have done Java for web applets. Could someone please point me in the right direction?

Quikly 3d Game Studio Pro

Other than that, seriously, other than the odd annoying bug what do you want to do in those that you can't do in dbpro? Except multiplatform games I guess (but the market for linux and mac games is currently pretty small I believe?)

I use the Torque Engine, and once you get a feel for how it works (I had never used a big giant C++ engine before) it's pretty easy to get stuff in there and then use scripts to start tweaking gameplay.

Look at the Irrlicht engine as well, it's very easy to set up, and doesn't require a giant starting base like Torque does to get anywhere.
I tried out a little of 3d Game Studio, and I really just didn't like it. I recommend Irrlicht, Ogre3d, Torque (shader or regular, doesn't matter), DarkSDK, or that Lawmaker thing (looks freakin' sweet).
