Well, today is my birthday, I'm turning *, so I thought I should just post a WIP thread right now.

This is my game, Kaos Realm. Basically, you go online, choose what to play with, and kill each other with different styles, nationalities, moves, and weapons. Right now you can only be a Werewolf. This is a list of what is available, as well as the screenshots providing them.

A simple Menu - Finished



An intro - WIP




3D Camera - Finished



Sliding Collision - Very Very Buggy! But still worth implementing.


Buildings - From the Free Building Fantasy Pack.



A Forest - Finished


Character Movements - 1.Walk 2.Run 3.Front Flip 4.Attack





Water with Buoyancy and Swimming - Finished





Real Time Battle - Finished






Now, the Multiplayer part is WIP, it would have been implemented by now if I could fix this unknown silent crashing problem. I use Multisync, I do go to Benjamin for help, but he kind of ignores me now. But I'll probably figure it out some time.

A demo is alot to ask. I still have to fix all the bugs and tidy up some things here, notch up some things there, and even complete the intro (Which has voices and mouth movement).

Now, there is one question I would like to ask. Would I set a sync rate to maintain a solid (same) FPS on each computer? Most of the time with my testers the game runs unbeleivably fast and they cant even seem to picture what is going on. Timer based movements, I dont know how to do, and that would result in me going back through all my code and changing everything...

Now, I am hoping to get more than a Werewolf in there. I do have a list in mind:
Gunner
Samurai
Ninja
Wizard
Vampire
Werewolf
Machine

I was also having things in mind like having Clans. You could create or join a clan, and put up advertisements in the chat box for them or something. You can have a clan, but it has to be of a certain few races, (like you can't have a vampire and werewolf in the same clan).
Along with that you could get clan awards, clan wars, etc.

And what about a thing called a Council, pretty much Admins that agree to watch over the maps for any cheating, or anything that shouldn't be there. But if you agree, you get to mix some anatomy of different races to make your own race name, and choose about 3 different styled and weapons from the races that you mixed.

So how do you like it?

Looks pretty good, although I expect a few flames due to the fact that the online portion is WIP, and not really complete. I'm pretty impressed with your offline progress, though the hard part will be successfully porting it to online play. Hopefully everything will go smoothly

I'm no expert with Multisync, but I'm pretty decent with it, so if you need some help give me a ring, and I'll look into your problem - sometimes a fresh head can find the little problems that cause the big crashes

Cool! I hope you're able to get this to mmorpg stage, but keep it at morpg for now.

As for the multiplayer, dont think its that kind of WIP. 2 player multiplayer and chatting is all complete with the help of Benjamin, but more than 2 player is becoming the problem.

The screenies look impressive - and there's a lot of them!
But I do wonder (and, I realise that I'm nit picking) where's the RPG in your MORPG? It sounds from your descriptionn that it's more something like Planetside (PvP only).

Have I got the wrong end of the stick?

Thanks both of you!

Tinkergirl, I was only working on the extra things like battle and swimming and stuff before I went on to the RPG, which I have moved onto. The intro is the first step, it reveales how to heal yourself and your first mission which is to destroy the monsters. And to destroy the monsters, I needed a battle engine. Therefore, I was kind of working on the RPG part

and btw, how come u got LOAD GAME if its MMO????

i have tryed the game, and it was v. nice with all the effects and water and animations... good work dude! keep it up!

I wouldn't say 0%, more like 45%. Its just not in the game yet. I make the multiplayer seperate, then I just add the multiplayer to my game.
Yeah, I've also considered re modelling and texturing the WereWolf. Only problem is... I think I might have to re animate the whole thing again too. I guess I can just move the vertexes around instead.

As for the load game, thats for the non-online part. There will definetly be an option for multiplayer under the Load game, and that will take you to options to login, register, etc.

I guess I'll go and size the screenies down to about 80%. I dont want to distort it though.

about the re-animate thingy. im not sure, but you should check for an option "Save Animation" in milkshape. it will allow you to save the bones and animation of your model. and after u will load the model, u just will replace the bones and stuff..
but im not sure about that feature. mabye it doesnt exist in Milkshape though.

I dont think so, because bones are attatched to the vertexes and if the vertexes are deleted then I will have to re attatch bones to all new vertexes.

Maybe because 3DS Max is about 200 times the cost of MS3D.

Lookin good, try getting some higher resolution textures though, and fixing the FPS in some areas.

its just seppurate the bones from the object. how hard it can be?

Well, I am giving a small update. I'm adding all the sounds. Beam blasts, explosions, foot steps, etc. Then comes music. I can't really post a screenshot of sounds or music, sorry bout that. I am also doing animations for AnimeBlood (Cian Damacy), and I am doing those more than working on my game, so it'll be done later in the week.

cool.. keep the good work and add the sounds

btw, i suggest you to use Set object Light Obj,0 < on your objects
cuz your objects seem to be lil bit messed up. so try that command, im wondering if it will fix your mess with the objects

Ok, well another update, no screenies this time but will later on. I have made a pause game, a pause game menu, a 'switch between tabs' where you switch between 'Menu', 'Spells Ineventory', 'Gear Inventory', 'Stats', and 'Close'. The system for I dentifying the each of the 90 spells slots and if their characteristics if there is a spell there, and I have drawn and modelled the two spells you start out with. Now I'm making it so when you choose to use the spell, you target which monster or object to use it on. You start out with 'laser 1' and 'health 1'.

There is a problem with the targeting. I use object screen x and object screen y to determine where to put the target cursor. But the cursor appears to move with the monster, but in a totally different place on the screen. Does anyone have a solution? I am putting the cursor at the mouse, and I am positioning the mouse at the monster. Thanks for your help.

what command do you use to get the number of polys in screen?

whats your setup thats pushing around 50k polys at 35fps?

The multi player bit is hard but keep at it until its sorted. Just when it seems to be working with 2 players you will add a third one and more problems will pop up -.-

Well guys thanks for the comments. I'm modelling the samurai because all of the game's systems together is about 90% done. That way all I have to do is change some veriables for the samurai. Spells inventory system is like 30% done cause I gotta model and code everything for the few spells that the WereWolf character has, but then again I have to make the dropping and adding spell part.

Hey, if you want to re-texture/UV the wolf dude without losing the animation, you can save a copy of him like he is now, then do whatever you want to do, then "merge" the old copy with the new version and delete all the groups of the old copy (under the groups menu of course)

then all you have left are the animated bones of the old model and the new textured mesh... all you have to do now is re-attach the bones to the new mesh (you might want to keep the old mesh around for that part actually, for a reference)

but anyway, looks great! there seems to be a plethora of (M)MORPGS on the WIP right now though...

aww, man I'm dumb. I hope I didn't give you the wrong idea about the demo and stuff, its only old by about 1 day of updates. The only thing missing from the instructions is how to use spells: Click escape, move the mouse over the tabs a the top. Once you get to the 'Spells' tab, then you should move the mouse over the 'Laser 1' spell, and then you should click 's' and follow the instructions at the top of the screen.

k, downloaded. Pretty cool overall . Some problems:
-The camera was too high in the trees and i couldnt see my character
-No collision on the bridge
-If you hit space bar in the water and swim down, when you let spacebar up the water effect (blueish screen thing) goes away, even when your still underwater
-Theres no animation for you walking backwards
-It's too hard to kill the guys, I tried 5 times, and i did flips to avoid them, but I couldn't even kill one .

You should use the spell first, to kill off two of them.

Next, and you gotta be really fast, run to them, front flip over beam, click mouse when your up to them, and run away

Well, switching my focus to animating models for a freind. Progress is good. Forgot to model ears for Samurai. Going to do that now.

Zomibe is done now too... I used Psionics tutorial, took his textures, and textured it my own way
Also Wizard is done, lol he had been done but it is a secret of who it is in the game.
