Depends where you live. We never used to get snow up in Anglesey because 1) it's an island, and 2) The Snowdonia national park (big mountains) gets all the snow we should get. Since I moved to London I've seen a lot more snow. And slid uncontrollably across quite a few smaller roads (for some reason they grit and salt less down here even though much more ice on road). Anyone who reckons 4x4 makes driving on ice a lot better hasn't been on a completely ice covered pitch black road (lights were out on lampposts too
) revolving slowly at 30mph towards a big brick wall. And my car evolved from a rally car rather than some overlarge shopping trolley that is used to take kids to school in and make birds feel safe.
This year has been remarkably snowless though (was away for Xmas in Cyprus so missed that bit). Just horrible drissle at the minute (after a month of nice but cold weather).
