If you are using Dark Basic Professional I recommend buying FPS Creator.

When you compile your game in FPS Creator, your map object gets saved as well as the texture that goes with it. The file is a large .dbo world. I honestly do not recommend buying FPS Creator for the program its self. Only for use on maps.

I doubt you will find a free tool. But if you should, maybe you could tell me.

I have searched sites for free level makers but I have never found one. CartographyShop is pretty good though.

most people build their own level maker. You can check out completed projects for some examples.
