So, I was bored, and decided to look through my old, first posts on here, and man was i annoying, lol. I'm surprised how much I've improved in programming and just..."maturity" i guess you could call it. I sound like the noobs I make fun of sometimes, lol. You guys really whipped me into shape it looks like , but then again, all noobs who survive the often harsh beginnings to the forums (admit it, we're not all that nice to some noobs ), conform to the "ways of the forum", and learn how things work around here. So, anyways, some of my stupider threads...

Quote: "Does anyone know if theres a way to attach an entire folder, b/c I have a pretty decent game (at least its decent for me) and i want to post it but the media in the game are almost crucial, or everythings white, models dont load, sound doesnt work, and character doesnt load! So does anyone know how to attach and entire folder, rather than me having to rewrite the media part of my code and the take 2 hours picking out the media in the game? "

lol, decent? It was a bunch of boxes put together and textured with no gameplay .

Quote: "This is probably the stupidest question in the world but im NOOB, so how do you create a seperate file, to run the game as an executable? "
then later...
Quote: "Uhhhh....I'm confused, , I've saved the source file, but once i do that and i open it from my computer but, it just opens it in DBPRO. PLZ help "

Lol, he said to open up the '.exe' file, but apparently i was too stupid to realize what that was, and kept trying open the .dbpro file .

Quote: "o...and does anyone know if darkmatter lets u animate ur models? "

o? its oh..not o, but i was too lazy to type the 'h'. Ahh...the days when i thought you could actually MODEL things in Darkmatter, lol.

Quote: "This isnt DBPRO related but idk where else to put it but would someone recommend getting darkmatter or cartography shop 4 first? "

Only my 4th post on the topic. What a stupid question anyways. It depends on which you want to put into the game first.

Quote: "How do users select such little objects and manage a large project in CS? I've looked at a file that came attached to the demo of CS4 with DBPRO. Everythings overlapping and just a bunch of shapes on top of eachother!!! how do u manage it? like if u want to delete some item thats in a huge castle in a room under a desk? how do u find it and delete it without deleting everything on top or side of it? and the map i loaded was called level.csm if anyone wants to look at it "

Lol, yeah all those huge projects, so hard to manage...or not. It's called the Perspective View. Only makes since to CS4/WS owners .

So, just thought itd be fun to look up our old threads and make fun of them .

Sorry, but I don't think I have any such threads. Feel free to post any of mine if you find any though.

[edit] Also I have started 67 threads in almost exactly 2 years, how many have you started?

I remember this type of thread a while back.

But, just for the fun of it, I looked back a ways. My second thread was a disaster, and I remember being really hurt when people said I was a n00b (well, not so much a n00b, but they must've thoght I was a loon who wanted teh coDeZ!!!11!1!one). But really, I was crazy back then. Linky: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=27301&b=7

Quote: "I'm not an evil weirdo! I don't want the codes i want a small bit of info. Maybe explain some things and make me do the rest!!! It feels degrading for somebody to think that you're that selfish . I just want to know how the things in the game work. That way i can figure out how to get started and do the rest with my head. That would also help to get a boost on other games. Ofcourse I dont want the codes! What use would that have?! I wouldn't be able to do anything else if I was that stupid !
P.S. I had a look at all of the games and Sawrm is weird. I just want to make a game that I ACTUALLY made, that wasn't a rip off of someone else's code. GIVE ME SOME DIGNITY !!!!!!!!!!"

I have to admit, looking back at my old posts, I want to punch myself in the face...so dumb...so painful.

And my rantings and ravings about some dumb project with an outrageous story (even posting little "chapters" of it in General Chat before it was renamed!)...man, those days were serious to me at one point...but hilariously painful to me now

I almost got booted off the forums for inciting some huge bad post against raven. I wasn't even saying anything bad about him I just posted some link to some random blurns against him and I was accused of being the ringleader.

My rant about the behaviour of members, then someone got it locked, being annoyed I repost it, twice...fool No particular quotes though...

I tried to make a Dark Basic forum and posted a thread about it in the Dark Basic forum. What was weird is that Wiggett joined and said it was a cool idea(now that I think of it, it might have been sarcastic) and everyone thought it was a terrible idea.

Also, I used to have another identity before this one, but I got flamed all the time because of my name and avater which was so embarrasing that I won't even tell you my name now.

Yeah... I was pretty n00b when I first started posting on the forums. (Who's to say I'm not now) But I didn't start too many useless threads.

My first thread was titled "AI Help". I was trying to figure out how to get my tank to drive "around" buildings. No one could help me and I ended up just having the tank pick a different target when it hit a building.

My second and most likely worst thread was entitled "How Much Cash Have You Made Programming???". <-- Notice the excessive use of question marks.
Quote: "
I'm Just Wondering How Much Money People Have Made Programming In Dark Basic... Post Here How Much Money You Have Made and How You Made IT...

I've Made 35$
I Programmed A 3-D Pong Remake And Sold 7 Copies to my freinds at 5$ apiece.
"

Yep... You can guess how that one turned out. I received 50 replies flaming me for asking such a personal question. And then a few more ridiculing me for charging my friends to play my game… It was well deserved. I also had this terrible habit of capitalizing every word when I was younger. Later in the topic I double posted and started flaming my flamers like the upset child that I was.

…yep… apart from those, I don’t think I had too many n00b posts. I haven’t posted many threads illustrating my n00biness…

[Edit]: Oh yeah, In addition my username was "Game_Creator". I finaly switched it to "GameKit" when people started asking me if I was part of TGC staff.

I kept using the ftp url for my sig image and posted four times in a row

That was as noob as I got in any of my threads in Apollo. (Probably because I only started 21 threads in 4 years) Though i think I had alot more noob posts in the old rgt.

Lol, I was talking complete and utter b*******...

Large amounts of question marks seems to be a common trait between noobs by the looks of it (see the bottom of my post in that link)

Quote: "Who ever thinks a virus like this cant work: I have one. It has a dll in it that allows it to send emails. It is in Screensaver format (Like SOBIG_F) and could easily be sent to someone like a spam email with some kind of attachment AND: I use just plain DB, so it only needs DX7. LOADS of people have DX7!! So what says that it cant work! Just so you know I will NEVER allow this virus on any other computer (It looks for a file on mine so that it does not affect it) and it was purely for experimental purpose. The name: WHOPPER3264.scr
and also creates the file: ^^^.^^^^ on the desktop.

i remeber snow wars, i think megaton might.....and i remeber some of my "conversations" with seppuku on some of his beliefs, and i also remember a great thread in which we "discussed" the ethics of flaming noobs, and i tihink there was a new post in that thread every few seconds, it was hott. Then i came up with the idea for the project you all thought would never get off the ground, the Open MMORPG, ah, ggod times not to far in the past either...

most of you probaly think im still noobish, and i probaly will keep that title till i get my box world up on wip...

I honestly can't remember if I was nooby or not when I joined the forums (and I'm not very interested in finding out)... If I recall correctly, I started bashing at a few select noobs almost as soon as I joined, and had some complaints about it. I also had (and still have,) the problem of giving people the benefit of the dbout, no matter how bad they are.

I have posted a thread with an amazingly stupid title, however.

Ah, snow wars. That was a great thread. And it is really amazing that you actualy got a mmorpg started by posting the idea, especialy when sooooooooooooooooo many have been relentlessly flamed and failed. You only got relentlessly flamed.

I asked about rolling ball physics back in 2000 (these join dates are for the "new" forum). Dr Av (remember him?) helped me out. Erm, that was half a decade ago. Erm.....

Heh, just looking at TDP's animated Cartman avatar (haven't seen it before), and South Park is playing on my TV with Cartman talking at the exact same time. Was kinda in sync for a few seconds. Really weird

And it's n00b. Get it right n00bs.

Cheers

Yet others are in denial of their noobs post, oh hello 3DS master

@David R, would be nice to program a virus though in DB, so I can get back at the dude who spammed my email.

I was an complete idiot to make the 'belief' thread who should have been noob slapped, and I don't see the point of flaming people, unless they acutally deserve it. (kind like I did)
